Jonathan Carlson 73 Posted September 9, 2024 Sorry you're in pain. I don't know if I've lost enough weight to justify skin surgery. I love to see it before and after if you're comfortable with that.Sent from my SM-G981U1 using Tapatalk

Plastic surgery recovery is rough and the only way I managed was with medication. What is your pain management plan? 1 ShoppGirl reacted to this

And being in that kind of uncontrolled pain can actually slow down your recovery. Is your kid still living with you? If so, put your pain meds in a lock box that only you can get into. If they aren't, then you should be ok. Just hide the meds when they come visit. But you need to think of yourself and your body right now. You need to be able to fully relax, fully rest, and fully heal. And that won't happen if you're constantly suffering and in all kinds of pain. 4 summerseeker, Arabesque, GreenTealael and 1 other reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,003 Posted September 10, 2024 (edited) I agree with @SleeveToBypass2023 about your pain. If you insist on not taking anything, though, reach out to your dr and ask about opioid alternative. I know that Tumeric is supposed to help with inflammation and of course Tylenol and ice can help some but they have other alternatives. ms.sss 15,714 Posted September 10, 2024 everyones pain tolerance is different. so it really depends on what YOU can handle. i did not take any pain medication after i left the hospital for WLS. but after plastics (tummy tuck, arm lift and breast lift), i finished the entire 2 week Rx i was prescribed in said 2 weeks. i would have taken more if i had any, and i was too lazy to see my doc to get more, so i just left it at that. but yeah, plastics recovery pain was a bee-yatch compared to wls, and the meds helped tremendously. but thats me...i know others who felt the opposite (i.e., wls was more painful)...so yeah everyone is different. i would say if u are suffering then maybe consider getting an prescription, even if just a couple days. good luck! ❤️ 4 GreenTealael, SleeveToBypass2023, ShoppGirl and 1 other reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted September 10, 2024 I don't remember how long I took the pain meds for (I think it was hydrocodone) as it's been a few years for me, but I do remember it was really painful. Way worse than WLS. It does get better - but - UGH. In the end, I was glad I did it, though. P.S. I'm not sure what you had done, but the lower body lift (LBL) was definitely the worst pain-wise (I also had an arm lift, a breast lift, and a face/neck lift - those surgeries weren't as bad. I think it's the muscle tightening and all the Lipo they do that make the LBL so painful) 3 Arabesque, GreenTealael and ShoppGirl reacted to this

Were alternatives like nerve pain meds discussed? I really think it varies from procedure to procedure though. I had two weight loss surgeries with the same surgeon and one I went home next day at my request on no pain meds and tbis one I was there for 5 days because they couldn’t control the pain. Why? Who knows but it was night and day different. Edited September 10, 2024 by ShoppGirl

I was just thinking of that while I was on my walk that maybe they could just keep doing nerve blocks for a little while. So glad you are getting some relief. All the people on social media (and in real life) seemingly recovering at lightning speed are using traditional pain medication. No one talks about it because it’s pretty much implied. Speedy Recovery!
