ShoppGirl 5,003 Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) My first day of soft foods is Labor Day and since they usually have snow crabs on sale I was thinking that would be a tasty choice for my first soft food. I just want to steer clear of the garlic butter. I tried googling for lighter ideas to dip it in but didn’t have any luck. I was thinking I could make it with I can’t believe it’s not butter light but I used to have a recipe. I’m pretty sure it had sautéed onions and it used broth. It wasn’t bad, I wish I had saved it. Anyways, anyone have a recipe like this or another idea of what to dip crab in? The more I search I think it may have been intended as a lobster or scampi sauce. I found one that may work but if anyone has one that they know is good I would really appreciate it. Edited August 25, 2024 by ShoppGirl

Its what I was going to suggest. There are some decent butter substitutes out there, or just perhaps some Taking (my latest passion)! Enjoy your crab! 1 ShoppGirl reacted to this

I have the I can’t believe it’s not butter light in a tub and the fat is a lot better than butter and actually better than their original but I just want to cut it further if I can because of my gallbladder removal. I’m supposed to introduce fat very slowly to see what my body can handle. I guess I can just measure and use less of the light one so I will have a way of knowing how much fat is in there exactly. I did find a recipe for skinny shrimp scampi too that’s juice is almost what I was speaking of that I had earlier. It has shallots and garlic and uses only one tablespoon of butter and one of olive oil. The rest is broth and wine (which I will just do more broth). I’m gonna try that out but have the other option as well and see which way is better. Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I really hope I do like it. I found a box of individual packs of it on Walmart just as cheap as a bottle. Figured if I do I can take it with me when I eat seafood out and if I don’t I can donate the unopened ones. 1 BlondePatriotInCDA reacted to this

I suggested it as an alternative.. I use it on my turkey chili..salads....anything I want to add more flavor to. I hope you like it! 1 ShoppGirl reacted to this

I’m excited to try it. I plan to have all of my options and do some taste testing.

I tend to eat the same things over and over because I detest cooking, so I cook for a weeks worth of meals. This changes the flavor and helps get passed the "yay turkey chili again" blues. 1 ShoppGirl reacted to this
