Thanks for the words of encouragement, I do feel better today. I'm really hankering to eat something though. Cream Soup is going to get VERY old VERY quickly. It's been a rough week. My husband is scheduled to get his on Friday, but I think he may chicken out since I have really been kind of sick. I keep telling him to look past the first week and all will be fine.

I'm scheduled for surgery on December 31st. I've waited SO long for this, yet I'm so nervous and even SCARED about the surgery itself. I am not worried so much about the after as I am the during. Was anyone else afraid to go under? :help: My emotions are very mxed as well - some moments I'm very excited :whoo: then I get sad :think- then scared :omg:....ugh!!

With Gastric bypass - patients are encouraged to walk to get rid of the gas pains, is it the same w/ Lapband? ;)

Thank u!! :D

O.K. I am sure this is a stupid question and I know the DR. probably told me....but where is my port? I feel a lump on the left by my belly button. But I have a larger incision under my left breast. I am a little confused. I was banded on Dec 11, and I am feeling great. I am just a little sore if I lean forward for too long. Thanks alot.

I'm one week post op, up to day 5 was a little rough, between the pulling and burning as many of you have described to the air (or as my nurse friend says "hyper-inflate") I swear if someone had poked a hole in my belly I would have flown around the room like a balloon.

It just goes to show that everyone is different, hang in there, feel better.

Xmas dinner was kind of hard tonight, me with my Protein Drink and them with their rib roast...

I'm starting to feel relatively normal at day 7, but still have incision pain at what I think is my port site (under left breast). Man, my brother was on a roll tonight and I was laughing so hard but I was literally crying at the same time because it hurt so much!

ChaCa...I was just banded on 12/17. I also have anthem bc/bs and I started my journey in April and was approved in june. Anthem does not require the 6 month supervised diet like many others. My surgery was put on hold till december due to gall bladder and shingles. I have already lost 26 pounds since my surgery and feel great. Good luck!

janetnbama....I am in bama too. I was very nervous about going under and had 2nd thoughts right up to the moment they put me out but everything went fine for me and I have faith that it will for you too. It is normal to be scared about being put to sleep. Don't worry about it so much that will only make it worse because you will try and fight it. If you have questions ask them, they don't mind. I will be thinking of you! Hope everything goes well. You may have some regrets a few days post op but those will go away as you start to feel better. I was up and at em on day 4. Remember to drink plenty of water...you do not want to dehydrate. Drink your broth too it will help give you back your strength.

I was banded on 12/17 by Dr. Martinez in Mexico. I have had alot of the same feelings as you. I have had horrible gas pains all week, and from day 3 through day 7 I have thrown up every night. Talk about pain. Last night was the first night since my surgery that I was able to go to sleep without gas pain or throwing up!!!! Today I am actually feeling that the surgery was worth it.

Yes, I had my surgery on 12/3/07 and I had the same symptoms as most of you. Pain in the port site, laying down really seemed painful, and getting up from a chair or laying down position really killed me. But...good news its short lived. After a week or 2 you will not notice to much. I still have some discomfort when laying on my side but its getting better. As far as gas, get Gas X, that should help you. Keep drinking Water too. Adding lemon helped me, its true, the more you drink of water, the better your going to feel. Good luck!

I was banded 12/18 and have had a tough time with my post-op recovery. I had nausea for several days that has finally seemed to go away. I'm not real interested in most of what I can drink, but I am definitely more up to eating today that any other day so far. My biggest complain today is my port pain. I keep getting twinges and am very sore in the area to the left of my belly button and just above. I wonder how long until the port pain subsides? Oh and I'm starting to get the itchies on areas near my incisions. I'll take those any day over how I was feeling for the last week.

Now I'm just dying to EAT FOOD! Chewing sounds like such a dream to me right now... 3 more weeks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
