Day 4: I think I'm losing it!

Recommended Posts

Well I'm sure as hell glad to know I'm not ready for the band. My DOCTOR had told me I was, but it seems the grammar teacher knows best. I didn't see the MD after her name either. I wonder destiny, if she never ever cheated...(Uh oh, did I speel dat rite?)

I get the Kids Dannon Danimals yogurt smoothies. They have LESS sugar than the adult version and more Calcium. Plus, they have LESS calories. They do the trick for me. My doc also let me have sugar free sherbet that helped a bunch. I could have cream Soups, so I went to Panera and got broccoli Soup. I brought it home, pureed it and added a little milk to make it thinner. I also LOVE SF strawberry-kiwi Jello. My doc let me have SF pudding (dulce de leche is awesome!) and SF apple sauce (I buy organic, SF). And, if you are truly desperate, try taking chicken noodle soup, take out about 1/2 of the noodles and add either FF milk or a little Water and puree it. I can only have 2 oz of any calorie-rich foods at a time. I also got Simply juice in Orange and Grape and take 2 oz shots of those when I get hungry. It helps TREMENDOUSLY! Good luck!

Hey UG,

How are you going, your question seems to have got lost in the discussion. How are you coping? Are you still hungry or have you found a solution? We are all different and what works for one person doesn't always work for another. Let us know how you are doing.

I am doing well. Today was my first post-op appointment. My Doctor is advancing me to the pureed phase 1 week early!

What I used to get by was New-whey Protein shots (taste like a Jello shot), cream of mushroom Soup (with extra non-fat milk to make it thin), and SF Jello. I also found a Protein shake from Naked juice with 38g of Protein.< /p>

Great news about the mushies - so much more to choose from and so much more taste. Stick with it - not long now till you're back onto real food.

I was banded 12/17/07 and am on liquids for a month. I have been doing 50grams of Protein in my shakes.... I got the Isopure at GNC it's wonderful. I have had some reg food here and there, boiled egg and so on. I have added in babyfood. It is easier for me than to puree stuff. I eat half of a 2.5 ounce container and it has no additives. I started adding that because I am tired of liquid mashed tatoes and Soups. broth works well! You can do it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
