Day 4: I think I'm losing it!

Recommended Posts

You know, we want to most assuredly protect the band that was just placed. Protein is such a satisfying food. I impress upon all - those on liquid - add some kind of Liquid Protein. There are all kinds of them out there. Add nutmeg or cinnamon for a change. vanilla and a little nutmeg. banana with nutmeg.

Was a nice change for me during the holidays.

It has been found that those that follow the doctors/band rules are the most successful.

Keep your eye on the prize and the reason you did the band.

Hi! I had surgery on the 12th and just started mushies yesterday. Strangely enough, I'm finding myself nervous to eat food again; I think the liquid is easier (protein drinks) at times b/c don't have to worry about the calories... And I don't like the idea of pureeing chicken and eating scrambled eggs every morning for 2 weeks! I guess I'm just having a tough time wrapping myself around this mushy phase since I know how fattening scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes are! Wish I had my fill soon!

well damn, i have Marsden too and i seriously doubt he'd agree with one of his patients advising someone else that a little tuna wouldnt do harm. unless i missed the MD after your name?

Ain't no since in hatin'! If I was hungry, I'd try some tuna, and I ain't no MD.

I had tuna myself, but the day before I was to start soft foods *per my surgeon*. I was hungry, and according to him - I could move a day earlier onto soft/moist tuna & it was the best damn tuna I EVER had.

I spent to much coin (self pay) not to call and ask what I can/can not do at any point in this process. I LUV this forum, and have gotten great advise - but I would never take the word here and make it work for me without placing a call to my Doc. My Guess, your Dr. would appreciate you calling him/her for any questions on the pre/post op diet.

Good LUCK!!!

Experiment - I did. I had a slice of meatloaf pureed up with some mushroom Soup when I first went onto mushies - after nothing but fluids it was wonderful. Pasta with a Tomato sauce is also nice pureed up - looks awful but tastes delicious.

The advice given to me by my Dr (which may differ, so please check with your Dr first) was that when the mushies I was eating stopped making me feel full, rather than increase the amount I was eating I was to make them thicker - that is less Fluid and not so finely pureed (spelling?) the idea here was that they took longer to move into the lower part of your stomach so you felt fuller for longer.

I am now on full foods and just waiting for my first fill in January.

Hi, I am just interested in the different diets that Dr.'s have you on pre-op and post op. I have been on liquids for 4weeks prior, will be on Clear Liquids in hospital, and when I come home can start yogurt, cream Soups, cream of wheat {or cream of rice} but all with Protein powder or powdered milk mixed in. I do not know what I have after 1 week on this stuff. I am sure they will tell me. In all honesty, that tuna does sound very good but....... I would ask my Dr. first also. My understanding is that this is a place for support and not a place for personal attacks. I am being banded at 12:30 tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
