Stomach Gurgling

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else have LOTS of stomach gurgling when you eat and after eating? I seem to have a lot of it and it's pretty loud and I know that others have noticed it. Is this something that is normal? Does it go away? I can deal with it, but when I'm in a quiet setting and my stomach goes crazy with loud gurgling, it can be a little daunting hee hee. Thanks for sharing....

Jillybean,

I am right there with you. My husband has noticed it and even my 3 year old niece. She likes to lay on my stomache and listen to it. It's annoying to me but she just laughs. I am 3 weeks out from surgery, and am still getting very gassie after all meals.

You betcha.

As my level of restriction went up - the symphony of sounds that my stomach makes is incredible. I never knew I could make such noises.

It gurgles, churgles, and makes noises - but I listen to those noises because that first hiccup means it's time to stop eating. If I hear too many noises it may mean that I didn't chew my food well enough. All in all, I've learned to listen to my band - it's usually telling me something! :-)

My tummy gurgles and sounds like an un clogged drain sometimes it is loud and sometimes it is not. I was banded in September 2007 and lost so far 70 pounds wow. I had my third fill this morning and well I am not hungry anymore. My Dr. said that I am doing so good it is hard to believe and that he thinks its great because I did not gain weight over the holidays and that I lost weight. I have a normal sized band and I am about 3 ccs full total wow no wonder I can't eat. Chew Chew Chew or else you will throw it back up.

I got my first fill on December 15th, and was gurgling so much while I tried to drink the Water... I got scared (because I hadnot checked this board first to see that it is normal)... so I insisted that the Dr take some of the fill out.

Three days later, everything was back to normal... I am able to anything I want...

I am going to try to be more tolerant next month and let him be more agressive... knowing that the gurgling is normal... and will subside after a few days.

I was giving tests a couple of weeks ago and, on cue, my stomach started gurgling and growling whenever the room was perfectly quiet during the tests. To my students' credit, not one of them looked up at me, that I noticed. I can only hope that it wasn't as loud as it seemed!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
