I ate cottage cheese, avocado spread, hummus, Protein pudding, protein yogurt, and even 3 or 4 teaspoon fulls of split pea Soup (my husband had to eat the rest because it was REALLY filling). I also ate some tuna (but VERY sparingly), oatmeal (again, very sparingly and only 2 or 3 teaspoon fulls...my daughter ate the rest of the bowl because it was really filling), sauteed squash (used extra virgin olive oil and it was soft and soooo good), 1 scrambled egg (only had about 2 small bites and then hubby added the rest to his eggs and finished it). I was just so happy to be able to eat stuff, but I was absolutely NOT ready for how little I could actually eat lol

That's how you learn your new limits, though. Your mind will tell you it's not enough food. Ignore that hater. We don't know her anymore. She a bish that wanna cause drama and chaos. She got us into this mess to begin with. Listen to your body. THAT'S what will lead you to the Promised Land.

Problem with ignoring is the pressure that comes from realising you are getting majority of your Protein from protein Water in my case - can’t bear the PP post op and not real food

But that's only at the beginning. It's definitely not like that forever. It has to be that way at first because your stomach has to heal and your body needs time to get use to food again.

Hi. I am 6 days out from Surgery and have been having hunger pains since I woke up from surgery. No matter what I drink or what Soups I have I can’t get rid of the hunger. Has anyone ever heard of this or had such an experience?

Yrs, some people do. Sad to say but a lot of this is head hunger. Your brain is really powerful and can twist you up badly. You’re going through a stressful time (physically, emotionally & mentally). If you were someone who used to comfort or sooth yourself with food your head will be telling you to eat (hungry) because of the stress but of course you can’t which will make you want to eat more. Plus your head tries to convince you that you are not eating enough food to survive (you are) so it says you feel hungry. Hunger pangs can also be from excess stomach acid. At the moment your body is still producing enough acid for your old larger tummy and for the volume of food you used to eat so too much for what you need now. Have you been prescribed a PPI? They reduce the acid in your tummy which reduces/stops the hunger pangs.

I have and I'm 10 days out. I've had a very rough go with several other issues, needed a blood transfusions, and as soon as I went to full liquids, I could not hold food in so I got dehydrated. On top of all that, I've been so hungry, lost 20 lbs though.

Yep, me. I never lost my hunger at all. I've just had to learn that if I follow my plan, I'm getting enough food. I ignore it by staying busy, working a lot, and keeping busy so I'm not focused on it. I make sure to have 3 meals and 3 Snacks per day and prioritize Protein, then healthy fats, then Fiber, then carbs.

For that price I didn’t need to get surgery. Could have dieted without it.

I get that, I said that for about two weeks and amazingly I turned the corner a few days ago. Yes, I'm still hungry but I am forcing my self to drink more Protein Drinks (cafe mocha) in-between meals and lots more Water. I found both has helped me considerably and I am used to getting hungry so it's not as bad now. How are you feeling now?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
