I do my own variation. I control the ingredients that way. Cheaper & I get about 30g of Protein. It’s easy & there are lots of recipes online you can use as a starting point.

I made these using a recipe online and they are good. One tip Though is if you use a mason jar, get the wide mouth ones. Otherwise they are a challenge to clean. Hope you enjoy.

If you're making it yourself, it can be super healthy. Most of the recipes I tried were for steel cut overnight oats (which I chose because they have the least negative impact on your blood sugar -- I'm diabetic). I thought they were fantastic. I like the chew of the steel cut oats, and I can enjoy them hot or cold. My dad loved it enough that he makes it too (but with sugars -- honey, maple Syrup, etc).

My mum absolutely thinks it's disgusting. She's tried my steel cut oats and various types of milled oats, and she's just not into the texture or taste. XD Really, to each their own.

I have a subscription to them, from before surgery. I loved them. I'm still on pureed foods at this point, but looking forward to soft foods so I can have some again. Hoping they still taste as good as before surgery! Love the many flavors, and they have lots of options for people with either whey, or plant based Protein, which is great. Whey protein is very harsh on my tummy. I personally think they are worth it.

I can seem to open what you have and of course I didn’t save the recipe I tried but I remember it called for vanilla Protein Powder (I’m sure you could substitute any flavor you like). If the recipe you have doesn’t call for Protein powder you may need to add a splash more milk. To up the protein you can add things like Greek yogurt, nuts, seeds, or nut butter (just be sure to add natural nut butter and be conscious of the calories).

I don’t add Protein Powder to mine but you could. Just started adding collagen powder to mine for no other reason than to make me look young & beautiful again LO!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
