TwinkleToes87 15 Posted June 12, 2024 I'm 7 days post op and after I drink or even just randomly I get this very painful wave of stomach pangs that feels like my stomach is in spasm. Is this normal for people to experience? Has anyone found anything that helps? 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
Arabesque 7,414 Posted June 13, 2024 I can’t remember if i experienced it (too long ago) but I do know some people do. It’s like muscle spasms? Think it occurs simply because the tummy is a muscle & it spasms as a result of the surgery, being so sensitive & then the healing of the tummy muscle & the cut nerves. Some say it happens after drinking very cold or very Hot Drinks & others say it happens randomly. 4 TwinkleToes87, GreenTealael, Lisa Gilkison and 1 other reacted to this
BeanitoDiego 153 Posted June 13, 2024 After surgery, I would have spasms when trying to take in cold or cool drinks. Everything had to be warm or room temperature. 10 months post-op, and I can drink cold things again. 3 GreenTealael, TwinkleToes87 and Arabesque reacted to this

I also believe it was from drinking cold things during that period. As mentioned above, stick to warmer fluids to see if that helps.
