OMG! There's a dent in my stomach? Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Hiya! I just took my steri strips off and the scars are looking good. I do have a dent in my stomach where they sewed in the port though. It is funny to look down and see the dent in my stomach on one side. Did anybody else have this exprience? I imagine that will go away as my belly fat melts off....:omg:

My Dr said that out of the 600+ surgeries he's done, he's had to revise the port placement twice because the people lost so much weight. Wouldn't that be the best surgery you ever needed? That's my goal! ;)

The port is sewn into the fascia tissue. It's connective tissue we all have. The fascia is above a muscle and below a fat pad. So they have to cut the fat pad to get to the fascia tissue.

Some surgeons believe there is less chance for a seroma if they suture the fat pad back to where it was. This could be one reason for the dent, perhaps your doc isn't one that buys into the seroma theory.

I'm so glad to see this thread. I have a dent too and wondered if I were the only one. I guess I should have asked my doc about it. He did say at my last fill, that the scars will probably be invisible in a year and that I was healing very well. A dent is better than muffin-top anyday lol!

omg, i'm really surprised at all the people whose dents stayed put! i had a big very weird dent after my gall bladder surgery that went away as soon as all the weird poofy gas deflated, maybe 3-4 weeks after surgery. i assumed this would happen with the lap band surgery (next week) as well, but i never considered it might be long-lasting! ;) keep us all posted! :Banane34:

I saw this thread and laughed............... as I have a belly dent, but after reading mine is different than yours.... mine is not related to my port.... it is lower... under the belly button... I got this dent the last time I lost a bunch of weight.. it is like half my lower belly fat has disolved much like a melting snow drift.... it is weird and it reappeared several months ago when the fat loss was becoming apparent....... it is becoming more and more evident as I go into this latest whoosh....... its weird... its my belly dent!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
