Revision Surgery - Band to Sleeve-any tips or success stories

Recommended Posts

Good Day

I am going to have my gastric band removed and the gastric sleeve done on May 17, 2024 due to complications from the band. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on recovery, foods, exercise etc for the first few days after the surgery.

When I had the band installed i was on a liquid diet, then puree and finally real food. Lots of gas pains in chest and shoulders back then.

Now I am on a new journey at the end of the month.

Any success stories?

I am literally a previous band patient and going to be sleeved soon! I’ll let you know. I’m curious if anyone else here is further along.

Good Morning: I am currently on day 9 since my revision surgery. For some really strange reason I am no longer having any issues like I did on day 1. No pain, no stomach spasms, very minimal nausea. I am now craving something with substance. Contacted my surgeon today and he advised that if I am tolerating liquids...move to the next stage-puree. If in a week I tolerate this well...move to soft foods, then the next stage and so on.

It almost feels surreal. Every clinics website states two week for every stage. I wonder since I was a band patient previously that my stomach is accustomed to the sleeve diet. I was very fortunate to loose 150lbs total with that gastric band and good food choices.

It seems revision patients have it a little different...we know what is going to happen.

I went from a band to sleve may 9th. I had my band removed last November and quickly gained back 40 pounds. The procedure went fairly smooth , except it took my surgeon 4 hours do to all the scar tissue I had in my stomach plus he had to repair a hiatal hernia. I just started on soft foods on Thursdays and it has been a tougher then I thought it would be. I had some egg salad last night and it didn’t go well. I got really hot and sweaty and thought I was going to die. But I didn’t and it passed, I had some refried Beans this morning and I did well with them. Good luck on your procedure it’s worth it.

I’m sorry you’re having some issues with the egg salad :( do you think you now have aversion to eggs?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
