ShoppGirl 5,003 Posted April 30, 2024 (edited) It looks like I may have to have a revision to Bypass now. I will know for sure next month after they scope me but I’m curious how much of the excess weight is lost with the revision. My surgeon said his experience is it’s only about 70% but I’m hoping that some people experienced a greater loss. Also, when computing excess loss, what is the ideal body weight we calculate from? That’s never really been clear to me. Edited April 30, 2024 by ShoppGirl 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted May 1, 2024 So when I had my revision, it was for complications. I was told to expect no more than 45-60 additional pounds of weight loss, because you only lose about 50% of your excess weight with a revision. Well, if you look at my signature, you can see I've lost more than that lol It wasn't easy, and the weight comes off slower and can be a bit harder to lose, but it's possible if you do the work. 2 GreenTealael and ShoppGirl reacted to this
swimbikerun 1,046 Posted May 2, 2024 I'm also one of the few who has lost more weight than expected. I had several medical issues that led to it, before the weight. So now that those are fixed, I'm healthier. The avg is 50%, lot less, and a lot slower. Don't go by us exceptions. I still have minor issues but it wasn't what it was. 2 SleeveToBypass2023 and ShoppGirl reacted to this
SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted May 20, 2024 I agree with @swimbikerun. Don't go off of us exceptions. It's actually not common to lose a lot with a revision. Go into it expecting about 50% less weight loss than what you had with your initial surgery. Then if you lose more, it's a pleasant surprise. But if you don't, you're already prepared for that.
