Dent In tummy

I have a super big dent in my stomach post op is this normal I can’t find anything on it

Could it be diastasis recti ? A seperation of abdominal muscles. Not sure if that helps. Hope you find answers soon !

If you had surgery 4 days ago then your insides will be a various stage of healing and are probably a little swollen from fluids that are a natural consequence of major surgery. Any concerns should be directed to your surgeon.

I just had surgery on 4/2/24 and I had the same. It looked really weird. Like a dent in my fat roll. My doctor said that it was from a suture in one of my abdominal muscles and would eventually go away as I lost weight and healed up. It’s only been a week and mine is completely gone.

This was my first thought too. Many surgeons use an internal scaffolding/bracing type suture which can cause a pulling sensation in many, discomfort &/or a dent. It’s placed in the muscle around the incision through which your tummy was removed. Is it around the larger of your incisions (on your right side)?

When healed it will ‘pop’ which you may or may not be aware of but it is supposed to do this.

Check with your surgeon to be sure.

Oh this is fascinating. Proves I'm still learning even 2.5 years post op. I know now that all the pain and pulling I had around my big incision (mine was on the left though) might have been this. Totally fits.

I had a number of incidents when I bent over and then straightened up (too quickly maybe) that almost floored me.

It totally resolved about 6 weeks after my surgery. Made me think about how I moved for some time though.

Mine resembles abdominal "guarding" because the sides pull in and the front protrudes. Went to my PCP about it and she said as long as there's no pain or tenderness or sensitivity then there's nothing to worry about. Gotta be honest, though, I really hate it. I noticed it slightly after my revision last June, but it was REALLY pronounced after my hernia surgery in December. Maybe my abdominal muscles have just had enough of surgeries lol I'm having a total hysterectomy in May (they have to cut me open since the uterine fibroids are so big) so I wonder what my abdomen will look like after that...
