I woke up yesterday 12/21. I was pretty nervous and my wife and I headed out to the hospital at 8:30 am, my surgery time was at 11 am. I was called into presurgery around 10 am and was VERY VERY nervous. I was not nervous at all until the night before.

They slipped me a pre-surgery drug to relax me and off to the operating room I went. I was in recovery and awake by 12:30. I wok up fat and was able to move pretty easily.

I was up and walking around the hospital by 1:30. I have hoestly felt pretty good. I have not needed any pain medication. I feel like I have done 500 sit up. I am a bit sore when I cough too, but nothing unmanagable. I got home from the hospital about 3 pm today. Went to blockbuster on the way home and am having a movie night on the recliner.

I am not hungry. I am able to get 2-3 oz down per meal. I did chew my Vitamins today and felt a but uncomfortable for a couple minutes, but nothing major.

I am having a hard time staying on top of the Water.

I cannot believe that I finally did it. I did not have to be on a two week liquid diet prior to surgery, only 24 hours beofre. As of today I already lost 11 pounds, most I am positive i water. But it is a start.

Enough for now, off to watch a movie.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
