AmberFL 887 Posted March 21, 2024 HI all! I volunteered for my daughters field trip tomorrow, and its hiking. I cannot make my normal meals, they will have to be snacky. So far I am thinking beef stick, cheese stick, Protein Shake. These might be enough for the day as long as I eat Breakfast before I go. It is an all day field trip. TIA! NickelChip 1,314 Posted March 21, 2024 I recently tried a very natural Protein Bar made with nuts and egg white Protein that I really liked. It was the Mammoth Bar in the goji berry flavor, available on Amazon. They're pricey but very good ingredients, and I found them to be super filling. 12g protein. I'd say they're a lot like the Rx bars, which are a bit cheaper and easier to find in stores. Worth keeping on hand for hikes or when you're going to be out all day. 1 AmberFL reacted to this

Spinoza 1,452 Posted March 22, 2024 cheese. It is the answer to all of life's problems post WLS. Compact, filling, nutritious and portable at room temperature. Further down the line nuts and fruit will be your best friends. If you can avoid processed bars then that might be good. If not, the bars might be better than the available (more processed) alternatives such as fast food. Good luck - I hope you enjoy the field trip! 1 AmberFL reacted to this
ShoppGirl 5,007 Posted March 22, 2024 (edited) What about Turkey Jerky? I found some snack packs at Walmart (they are actually called Turkey sausage bites) that have 10g Protein for 120 calories. The pack is pretty big too. I’m not super good at macros but it’s 7g fat and 2g carbs?? Edited March 22, 2024 by ShoppGirl 1 AmberFL reacted to this
Arabesque 7,414 Posted March 22, 2024 Great suggestions above. I’d suggest taking an electrolyte drink with you or sachets or tabs you can add to your Water when you top it up. It will give you extra boosts of energy. Just be warned they can be sweet so dilute them by adding extra water to the mix. Enjoy the hike - how lovely to share in your daughter’s field trip. 3 AmberFL, Spinoza and learn2cook reacted to this
