Aunty Mamo 20 Posted March 15, 2024 I'm two days post-op and got home from the hospital yesterday around 1:00 pm. I feel pretty good. I don't require anything beyond Tylenol at this point for pain and I bought a s/f liquid version of it so I could dump my crushed daily medications into it. Anyway- this is about gas. Everybody said, "gas pain, gas pain, gas pain", so I expected something, but this? This is beyond. I never imagined gas could make me feel as though something was really going wrong. I'm not looking for advice. I have all the tools I need to deal...just wanted to commiserate. 2 2 SleeveToBypass2023, Arabesque, summerseeker and 1 other reacted to this
Nan CC 16 Posted March 16, 2024 I hear you. I also didn't need pain medication--I took liquid Tylenol once, and that was because I had a headache. The gas pain, though? It was awful. But my experience was that the 2nd day post op was the worst. There was less pain the next day, and by the 4th day post op it was mostly gone. Hang in there. You'll be feeling great soon! 1 Aunty Mamo reacted to this
SleeveToBypass2023 2,677 Posted March 16, 2024 For me, the gas pain was excruciating days 2-4 post-op. Days 5 and 6 were a lot better, and by day 7 I had no more pain. I just made sure to walk, walk, walk and use the heating pad.
Arabesque 7,455 Posted March 17, 2024 Slow, deep breathing can also help as you breathe surgical gas out. Try marching on the spot or while sitting & raise & lower your arms to move the gas up behind your lungs so it is absorbed there & breathed out.
FifiLux 506 Posted March 17, 2024 I knew what was coming as years ago when I had my gall bladder removed I suffered so much pain with the gas and no-one had warned me in advance. I seriously thought something was wrong at the time. This time around I was prepared and, with my surgeon's permmission, took wind-eze afterwards so between it and walking it really helped.
