What is the best shake flavor that you guys seem to have came across and works the best for you? there's so many kinds, and flavors, brands and everything in between. I reallllly like AdvoCare chocolate. Pre op/ Post op I just want to keep my options open and if we can keep it online shoppable that would be lovely.

Be warned what you may enjoy before surgery may be disgusting after. We experience a change in our tastebuds & sometimes sense of smell. There can even be an aversion to certain textures. It can persist for a couple of months. I found things became ridiculously sweet or salty. The shakes were crazy sweet & seemed very grainy. I tried a flavourless pea Protein but all I could taste was peas (& I love peas but then blah!) Many struggle with purées because of the texture. Best advice is to get in a variety of brands & flavours of shakes others recommend here & also some bone broths & cream Soups.

All the best with your surgery.

At this point, the only Protein supplement I can still tolerate is unflavored. I have so many Protein Shake brands and flavors and I hate all of them. But Soup or a smoothie with a couple scoops of unflavored Syntrax Nectar works great. I've heard Isopure is good too.

Isopure: Dutch chocolate flavour.

I found this brand to be the least sweet and low carb option for me (i found that i really did not like sweet drinks anymore after surgery).

I would have 2 scoops of it, 1 tsp Decaf instant coffee crystals, 2 tsps Benefibre, 500 ml Water and a handful of ice. shake it all up in shaker bottle/cup and enjoy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
