Anyone tracking their intake?

Recommended Posts

Are any of you using software or a website to track your eating, exercise, measurements, etc.? What are your favorite sites? I recently started using food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate and it's pretty cool. They have virtually everything already in the database. I also like FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal.

How about you? Any other related sites you really like?

I've been using Fitday since August for my low-carb diet. I like it, but maybe I would like another one better. How do you like The Dailyplatet as opposed to Fitday? There's also Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople which I think is free as well. Anyone have any idea how that one is?

CallmeJim, I see you added a ticker and stats. I see you're down 25lbs from your highest, congrats! Are you on a pre-op diet?

I actually prefer daily plate at this pont. It's really easy to use and I have yet to try to add something that isn't already there. Lots of nice bells and whistles too.

Thanks for noticing my ticker. My "high" actually represents my all-time high weight from a few years ago. I have been struggling simply to avoid gaining at this point. With me, dieting, or simply being diligent to eat carefully depends on getting myself mentally prepared. Once I do that, I am usually pretty successful. Wish I could just "turn it on " whenever I want to. I'm really gearing towards 12/28 and the start of my pre-op diet. Life changes at that point and I am going to give it my best shot.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
