Hello all. I am relatively new...actually a lurker for a while. I also love this site and have become addicted to it!!!! You are all very supportive and informative. I was banded on December 10th in New York. I began at 208...gained 2-3 pounds while waiting for the surgery date...and am now 198 lbs (which I weighed going into surgery). I hava an Inamed Lap-BAnd and have had three fills so far...to a grand total of 1cc, 1cc, and .5 cc's. (total 2.5 cc). My weight is very happy on my body and not budging. Just yesterday I felt the first experience of being full, but am not sure if the golf ball in my throat is the "signal" I've been waiting for...I think the scale is the real signal. I guess I should join the once a week club, but will wait for a few pound off first.

I do want to thank you all for being such inspirations. I have not yet figured out how to navigate this site, so bear with me if I haven't yet told enough about myself.

This is my only support group. As far as I know, there aren't any other bandsters in ID. My husband is very supportive, since he's been banded too, but he lives in another state.

Gald to hear you are feeling better. I really like this sight too. I know when I have my surgery this sight will help me as much as it has you. And don't forget that you are helping too. Since I have only found this sight a month ago, you are the first person I can follow from start. Your testimony is a blessing to me and many more who choose not to post. Don't sell yourself short. It takes a strong person to share so many details. I only hope I can be the same example after my surgery. Okay, Im going to stop now... getting emotional.... must be PMS...where the hell did that chocolate go???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
