It varies from doctor to doctor so I would ask your team. Some say nut butters are fine, while others don't. I was on a "clear" liquid diet so I couldn't.

if you're on full liquids, then no. Once you're on soft foods, it depends on your surgeon. I didn't eat it the first few months. It's pretty high in calories.

Generally I've never seen Peanut Butter on the approved list, but I did check on powdered peanut butter and was told I could add it to my Protein Shakes in the full liquid phase. The difference is the powdered (PB2 or similar) is significantly lower in fat than real peanut butter.

Definitely not in liquids. All you might be able to do is try a Peanut Butter flavour powder & add it to your shakes. I wasn’t allowed peanut butter until maintenance. Though it has Protein it’s not a lot & it’s high fat (even the natural ones) & often high in added sugar. I enjoy a teaspoonful as one of my snack options now but my fat intake is low & sugar is very low so I can get away with it.

Check with your team/dietician as to when you can add it & how much you can have.

I bought a bottle of Peanut Butter flavoring on line and add a dash to my food and/or drinks. A couple drops into the powdered peanut butter really boosts the flavor.

I love PB2 - still get to have Peanut Butter, but in smaller portions and it's so much lower in fat.

PB2 is great! That’s what I eat too if I want Peanut Butter.

For those that don’t know this is a powder form of peanut butter. You get to adjust the consistency by how much Water you add. It’s also reduced in fat and sugar.

The easiest way to tell if you can have something like Peanut Butter on a liquid diet as explained to me by my dietician "if you tip the containers over and it spills out - its a liquid, if not - its not." Simplistic I know..but it answered my question when I asked about peanut butter.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
