I am one month post op. I have no issue drinking Water. I believe I can drink an entire 16 ounce bottle with no discomfort. I don’t chug the entire bottle of water but I can finish it in one 15 minute sitting. Is this true for others? I have no discomfort or nausea. How much water is safe to drink at one time? I’d like to know your thoughts. I don’t plan on drinking a gallon but at times I will drink a water bottle then grab a Powerade and drink it in 4ths to keep my fluids going. Cheers :)

I was always able to drink faster than what my binder said. The PA at my clinic told me not to worry about it - some people ARE able to drink faster. He said my stomach would let me know if I was drinking too quickly. liquids go right through you, so it's not a problem unless your stomach starts hurting - then you'll need to slow down a bit.

As Catwoman said, your stomach will let you know ! I (stupidly) chugged about a half a glass of Water once and OUCH - it hurt ! I have a 30 oz. cup that I refill 2 - 3 times in a day and just sip on it all day. I've also been using a straw since month 2 , no problems.

You can do what you can do but do remember those cut nerves are still healing (about 8 weeks to be fully healed) so messages may nit be getting through as well or quickly. Probably best to tread more carefully for a few more weeks.

Personally I still can’t chug. Any more than two mouthfuls & groan. But I drink slowly all day & night rarely feel really thirsty. I keep at a good hydration level all day I think.
