Gain Weight after 5 years

Recommended Posts

There's not a lot of information in your post. ;)

- what surgery?

- how much weight loss?

- any major events related to health in your life?

- what was your typical diet while losing/maintaining weight?

- what's your typical diet now?

Can you elaborate? How much did you gain back? What is your diet and workout routine like? I would suggest getting back to basics with your diet and start moving your body again.

I think this is what we all fear OP.

This community is so positive. If you can give us some more information about your surgery, starting weight, total loss, etc. then people will better be able to help.

Please can you tell us how and why you think you regained? That might help others from going down the same path.

Without knowing more I would advise reverting to your post op diet plan - Protein first, veg second, carbs third. Alcohol only when you know it's not adding to your issues.

I wish you all the best. I think you have knowledge to share that will help those of us earlier in our journeys and I KNOW that people here will want to give more specific help once we know more.

Regain is a fear I think we all carry with us. In addition to @Spinoza’s advice, make sure you restart tracking your food intake, fluids & activity too. It can be easy to let portion sizes slip, reintroduce foods that aren’t nutritionally dense & are calorie heavy, life gets busy so you drop or reduce any activity you were doing ir simply life throws challenges at you so watching what you eat gets forgotten or put in the too hard basket.

Get back in touch with your team too: your dietician, therapist, etc. To talk through what’s been happening, any emotional, medical or psychological challenges you may have been facing, why you revered to old eating behaviours, better food choices etc. & look at ways you can better manage these considerations. Even meet up with your surgeon to look at what other options are available to you too.

I’m year 3 years post op Bypass and I gained 15 pounds It’s been difficult to accept, but it’s common. I can eat more, my appetite has come back and I had to do a liquid reset (protein) to turn the head hunger off. It works for me to do a liquid reset, weight loss pills (phentremine) did not work. I’m also strength training high impact Krav Maga 4 hours weekly. Not giving up, just accepting this part of the journey and resetting to continue reaching my goals. I’d like 10 lbs back off :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.
