I had a gastric bypass on Monday. Tuesday was actual hell because I kept throwing up for nearly 24 hours.
I was feeling better by Thursday and was able to come home on Friday but now (Saturday) I am vomiting and it tastes like fecal matter smells?
My hospitals nurse line is closed so I can’t call until tomorrow.
Has anyone else had this happen? If so, what were the results?
Google is making it sound like I may need another surgery to fix a blockage.

Go to your nearest hospital emergency centre. Better to know what’s happening & start some treatment. You may only need nausea meds & fluids - fingers crossed.

Some do experience some vomiting. If it’s yellow it may be excess bile/stomach acid. If it’s dark almost blackish it could be remnant blood from the surgery. But again seek some medical advice to be sure.

All the best.

It tastes like poo smells? That's not good. Call your surgeon's after hours line and head to the ER. You shouldn't be throwing up for 24 hours, and it DEFINITELY shouldn't taste like poo smells.

I used to have "sulfuric" burps (rotten egg smell) and it's from my gall bladder and/or gerd....so hopefully it's something like that. Please let us know what you find out. Pray all goes well!

Sorry for the late reply. I was able to call my surgeon the next morning and he advised me to drink 1/2 bottle of magnesium citrate and after 8 hours I used the toilet and since then I have felt great. I guess I was just super backed up or something?

Good to know. I am 6 days post-op and I’ve been doing good for most of it except Wednesday and Saturday had bout of explosion of diarrhea. I’m guessing my body is getting accustomed to the big change I put it thru.

That's a thing??? You can get so backed up that vomit tastes like poo? So was it poo making you vomit? I'm really confused. Are you able to go regularly now?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
