hrichardson89 2 Posted November 8, 2023 I am on day 2 of 14 of liquid diet for preop and did not realize I’m not supposed to have sippable Soups or yogurt!!! Now I’m worried I’ve messed up my whole preop diet. 2 ZeeGee and SarahByNumbers reacted to this
The Greater Fool 2,054 Posted November 8, 2023 You haven't mess up. Make the adjustment and sally forth with confidence. Good luck, Tek 1 Sergeant reacted to this

catwoman7 11,220 Posted November 9, 2023 I doubt it. Some surgeons don't even require pre-op diets (other than water-only fasting for 12-24 hours right before surgery). That said, just put it behind you and follow your clinic's directions from here on out. It's only day 2 - you still have 12 days left. 1 SarahByNumbers reacted to this
Courtnay 40 Posted December 10, 2023 (edited) I sure did lol... I called and told them and I told them I was willing to reschedule and start the 5 weeks again, but they said we would not need to reschedule and to just keep trying and that I was doing amazing and not to beat myself up. I was quite surprised as they seemed at first that the 5 weeks Optifast diet was a must. When I went in for my pre-op to meet the guy putting me under, I told them again as it made me nervous and he seemed rather unbothered by it lol. He said "oh we don't care about that, what I care about is you not having anything after midnight prior to surgery". He laughed and said I was not the only one, nor the last to have cheated. I still feel lousy for it though, and everyones bariatric team is different with what they want you to do prior to surgery. I would not advocate cheating on the pre-op diet, but I if you have please do not beat yourself up about it as you are not alone. I would let them know though just because I feel it is important to be honest. Hugs. SomeBigGuy 110 Posted December 11, 2023 Great to hear! Just a theory, but I think there's just enough people that flat out defy the pre-op diet completely that they just give a super strict diet plan to allow for some deviation, while still preparing the liver for surgery. I went off mine a little by including non-fat greek yogurt, but it got me through the shakes during the pre-op diet. 1 Courtnay reacted to this
Arendiva 23 Posted January 4, 2024 You're fine. My surgeon didn't even have me do a pre-op diet. He was fine with me even eating normal food the night before,I just had to fast by midnight before the surgery. I legit had lobster risotto 13 hours pre-op. My surgery went fine and things have been going great post-surgery. 1 NeonRaven8919 reacted to this
