How many days did it take for you to have your first bowel movement after surgery?! On day four and nothing yet.

about a week - and that's pretty common. There's not much in there yet. You might want to start taking stool softeners because that first one post-surgery can be a doozy.

I went on day 2 and it hurt like the dickens!! Then last week turns out I had a small bowel obstruction and that caused some Constipation that I didn’t know was happening because I thought the way I felt was supposed to be normal. Now I’m having to take Miralax 3x/day until my post op follow up appointment. Hopefully all is still good and I won’t have to keep taking stool softeners.

3 days. My doc had me on Milk of Magnesium nightly until I had one (basically every day I took Oxy) and recommended I use a Fleet enema if I couldn't go on Day 3.

Day three I had diarrhoea - single event, dark, smelly occurred without warning. Then it was another couple of days I think. Initially I only went about every two day but if I went for three days I’d take a stool softener to keep on top of it. From purées I think I added a soluble fibre.

Don’t be surprised if you only go every couple of days for the first couple of months & what you pass is much smaller than what you’re used to. You’re not eating much to excrete. Also at the moment the strong opioid pain meds will can make you constipated too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
