I’m 10 weeks post op and after a very normal start to recovery other than very pale stools- I seemed to have developed very active bowel movements.

im eating normally, small meals but nothing excluded and I am waking in the night to use the loo.

just want to check if this is normal - I’m going at least 5-6 times a day where as before I was lucky if it was once a day.

I have converted from baby to bypass so I’m used to the process - just can’t get my head around this side of it as never experienced this before - except when I was on orlistat years ago

I would say that for most of us its Constipation that we post about. I have never read on here about anyone with your issues. I think you need to go back to your team or doctor and consult with them. Its not something you should be dealing with in my opinion. Hope you can get it sorted quick

I have the same situation ..... I had the sleeve done 3 months ago and I'm going 4-5 times during the day and even during the night. I've gone from being constipated all my life , to being an "efficient food machine" - food in - food out. When I mentioned it to the dietician , she said I'd self regulate in time.

I've had a few days of 4-5 BMs a day but on the average 2-3. Thankfully I've never had problems with Constipation post-op except during week one. That usually comes with weight stalls.

I was told pale stools was caused from the fat loss especially if it floats so.... I'm happy to go often. I figure I'm flushing fat and pounds down the toilet. 😌

Downside, I sometimes worry about being out somewhere and too far away from a bathroom. So I plan carefully. But I know at some point it will slow down.

Man, i would love to go like that lol I have to take Colace 2 in 1 or even Dr Tobias colon cleanse in order to get things going most days. However, 5-6 times per day seems like overkill. I would call your doctor and see if there's something going on. Constipation is usually the issue we have in general.

I had a very interesting conversation with my doctor recently. I was having some issues I thought may be a bug which included soft motions & wanting to go again later in the day. Did some tests & it showed I had some Constipation. Not blockages or impaction but some traffic slowing speed bumps (that’s my analogy 😁). Apparently your body’s response is to thin out your poop so it can go over the speed bump but it also means the bowel isn’t fully emptying hence wanting to go more often. Treatment was a stool softener taken one night, none on night two & then one on nights three & four. It did help.

This may not be your issue but worth a conversation with your doctor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
