Shnee 7 Posted October 14, 2023 Hello Everyone, Im having surgery on 10/18/23 and I am excited about it but I wonder if my A1c will push back my surgery. Do anyone have any knowledge of this?
kendajones 20 Posted October 14, 2023 4 days post-op and feeling good. Walked a MILE today! Stopped to sit down very briefly halfway through and paused to stretch a couple of times. It took me almost 24 minutes, but I did it! My doctor allows sugar-free low carb Greek yogurt and sugar free nonfat pudding during this initial liquid diet stage. Today, I put sugar-free PBFit powder in vanilla Oikos Greek yogurt and it was amazing. I could not eat the whole container, but it's a 5.3 ounce container, so that makes sense! I am also enjoying the bariatric chicken Soups for a little variety away from all the sweet flavors. 1 Shnee reacted to this

If you can have that on your pre-op then get it. I found a brand called Raymundo's in the yogurt/pudding cold case at Walmart it is 12 for $3.33. Other wise I just drink GNC shakes with Water or unsweetened almond or coconut milk. Since I already had the GNC one's on hand I thought this is a good way to finish them but I did by some pre-made Premier Protein cafe latte shakes that are not bad. I'm 5 days post-op and my blood sugar has been so low that I have not needed to take insulin since the surgery (though I am monitoring it constantly!). As my doctor said, "Bariatric surgery is the only cure for Type 2 Diabetes." WE HAVE GOT THIS! 1 Maliraptor reacted to this
Traci-Lynette 9 Posted October 14, 2023 Hi!! I'm new to the group and looking forward to any and all information and/or tips anyone is willing to share. I had my consultation with my Dr July 11th, completed my visits, etc. Let me tell you all this, AETNA is not playing! My case was submitted for authorization on the 12th. Authorization was granted the 13th; less than 24hr turnaround. Color me shocked! I start my 2 week pre-op diet Monday and surgery is scheduled for the 30th. I put this off for YEARS. Always put others ahead of myself. Now? I honestly don't know how to act. So happy I found this group. 4 New To This23, NettyD, walterblock1 and 1 other reacted to this
Marmar0505 0 Posted October 14, 2023 Hi everyone! My surgery date was October 6... So I'm 7 days pre-op, full liquids, 11 pounds down! Eager to get to the puree part! Any good Protein Soup recommendations? I really like broccoli cheddar.
Liz R 15 Posted October 14, 2023 Congrats! I'm going g in on the 20th. How was your pain after surgery? Sleeve or bypass? Is the liquid ok to swallow?
Maliraptor 3 Posted October 16, 2023 I've been on my pre-op diet faithfully for 12 days, and according to the scales at home have not lost a single pound. I'm worried this will mess with my surgery! 1 New To This23 reacted to this
jenrenee6391 7 Posted October 18, 2023 I’m on day two of Clear Liquids, and I’ve been so irritable today. I had to excuse myself just now because I’m afraid of taking out my irritability on my family.
Momo G 10 Posted October 18, 2023 Hi I am on day 5 and I have been wanting to just eat something I am not hungry at all but it’s so hard to drink around the clock to make sure to get everything in. I know it’s all worth it at the end and I am so grateful but it’s hard mentally and I have just wanted to scream so you’re not alone! People who I know who have had this always say these two weeks are the hardest! I know that there is a light and I will be able to eat normal food in no time! I started at 217 and I am 5’3 I am not 187.6 I was able to try on some clothes I had that have not fitted me in a while and that was motivating me to keep my head up it’s working! You can do this! It’s hard but it will be worth it in the end. Stay strong! Not everyone has the privilege of being in the looser club like us!! Good luck on your journey! 1 jenrenee6391 reacted to this
