4 days post-op and feeling good. Walked a MILE today! Stopped to sit down very briefly halfway through and paused to stretch a couple of times. It took me almost 24 minutes, but I did it!

My doctor allows sugar-free low carb Greek yogurt and sugar free nonfat pudding during this initial liquid diet stage. Today, I put sugar-free PBFit powder in vanilla Oikos Greek yogurt and it was amazing. I could not eat the whole container, but it's a 5.3 ounce container, so that makes sense! I am also enjoying the bariatric chicken Soups for a little variety away from all the sweet flavors.

Hi everyone! I'm brand new here, and just found the forum. I am scheduled for my VSG on October 19th, so next week. I'm already on my two-week pre-op diet. Excited and scared and also ready to go! I'm 5'2 and weigh 200lbs. I have Type 2 diabetes and High Blood Pressure and I'm ready to change my health for the better.

How exciting! Scary! Exciting! Lol

Congratulations and the very best wishes. I’m joining the Losers Bench Monday!! New week, new beginning!

@ShneeI have really taken a liking to the sugar free Jello. If you can have that on your pre-op then get it. I found a brand called Raymundo's in the yogurt/pudding cold case at Walmart it is 12 for $3.33. Other wise I just drink GNC shakes with Water or unsweetened almond or coconut milk. Since I already had the GNC one's on hand I thought this is a good way to finish them but I did by some pre-made Premier Protein cafe latte shakes that are not bad.

I also have high blood pressure and insulin-dependent diabetes, Shnee. I'm 5 days post-op and my blood sugar has been so low that I have not needed to take insulin since the surgery (though I am monitoring it constantly!). As my doctor said, "Bariatric surgery is the only cure for Type 2 Diabetes." WE HAVE GOT THIS!

Hi!!

I'm new to the group and looking forward to any and all information and/or tips anyone is willing to share.

I had my consultation with my Dr July 11th, completed my visits, etc. Let me tell you all this, AETNA is not playing! My case was submitted for authorization on the 12th. Authorization was granted the 13th; less than 24hr turnaround. Color me shocked! I start my 2 week pre-op diet Monday and surgery is scheduled for the 30th.

I put this off for YEARS. Always put others ahead of myself. Now? I honestly don't know how to act. So happy I found this group.

Congrats! I'm going g in on the 20th. How was your pain after surgery? Sleeve or bypass? Is the liquid ok to swallow?

I've been on my pre-op diet faithfully for 12 days, and according to the scales at home have not lost a single pound. I'm worried this will mess with my surgery!

I’m on day two of Clear Liquids, and I’ve been so irritable today. I had to excuse myself just now because I’m afraid of taking out my irritability on my family.

Hi I am on day 5 and I have been wanting to just eat something I am not hungry at all but it’s so hard to drink around the clock to make sure to get everything in. I know it’s all worth it at the end and I am so grateful but it’s hard mentally and I have just wanted to scream so you’re not alone! People who I know who have had this always say these two weeks are the hardest! I know that there is a light and I will be able to eat normal food in no time! I started at 217 and I am 5’3 I am not 187.6 I was able to try on some clothes I had that have not fitted me in a while and that was motivating me to keep my head up it’s working! You can do this! It’s hard but it will be worth it in the end. Stay strong! Not everyone has the privilege of being in the looser club like us!! Good luck on your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
