LindsayT 596 Posted September 3, 2023 Ever since last night after dinner, every time I eat solid food, my stomach gurgles for about 30-60 minutes, and I get a bit nauseous. Then, this morning (sorry TMI), I had a massive BM and severe painful cramping during. Thankfully, that went away after I finished in the restroom. The only thing that has changed is that I started an antibiotic Thursday and stopped the omeprazole on Wednesday. I have had very minimal issues since surgery or had any major food intolerance. Any insights? Could it be the antibiotic or not taking the PPI? Thanks!
toodlerue 452 Posted September 4, 2023 When did you have the surgery? Take a deep breath to relax. Maybe your body just needs sometime to work into your new routine. Your stomach had been through some major trauma! I’m sure it will be alright.

Arabesque 7,413 Posted September 4, 2023 The rumbling grumbling tummy is just your digestive system doing what it’s supposed to do - digest food or so my surgeon’s colleague told me. I describe mine as my own personal poltergeist rattling the chains & moaning. Mine’s growling now 🤣🤣🤣. Most tummy rumblings aren’t a sign of hunger like we used to be told. As to the cramping & large BM, that may not be related to anything but maybe your bowels not fully emptying the previous days. Check the side effect of the antibiotics to be sure though. I know some can cause diarrhoea not sure about the reverse. I can get diarrhoea (very smelly & cutting pains befits hand) if I don’t have my PPI or haven’t eaten for a while. The acid builds up & irritates the intestines. Maybe the acid irritated your intestines enough not to cause diarrhoea but & a clean out??? If it occurs again give your team a call. LindsayT 596 Posted September 4, 2023 It's not normal for my stomach to be noisy. It's something new. I was reading about the antibiotic, and it said not to take it if you've had WLS. I stopped taking it and emailed my doctor. It's a holiday here in the US on Monday, so I'm not expecting a response until Tuesday. 1 BeanitoDiego reacted to this
maintenanceman 286 Posted September 4, 2023 I'm 18 months post-op, and my stomach still makes all manner of noises on occasion. I always say, my sleeve is like a box of chocolates. I never know what I'm going to get. 1 Arabesque reacted to this
Arabesque 7,413 Posted September 5, 2023 Mine wasn’t this noisy before either which is why I asked the doctor. I swear I can hear gurgling even as what I drink goes down my esophagus. Maybe all my fat muffled the sound before 🤣🤣🤣. Oh, that’s an unexpected issue with the antibiotic. Glad you checked & stopped it.. Hope the doctor gets back to you soon.
