Which day does it get better ?

Recommended Posts

I felt well enough on day 5 to get out of the house a little. Today is day 6, and it was a rough night last night. ;) I need to get some more Protein in my body, I'm sure that would help. The gas pains were much better yesterday but last night came back with a vengeance. Hopefully as I move around a little today, I'll end up calling it a good day. I'm so nervous though - my husband has to go to work tomorrow, so I've got three kids on my own. We're going to get up and go to church so that my 2 year old is able to run and play and be cared for by someone else. Hopefully by the time we get home, he'll be ready for a nap, because I'm SURE I will be.

My main hope is that by day 10, I will be doing really well.

IndioGirl55, thanks for your honesty, I am up for the challenge, but am scared of failure. I have dieted and lost LOTS of weight just to gain it back. I do not like a variety of foods and dont know how to go about eating them without gagging like a child. I started on this journey thinking I was going to do GBS and changed my mind because it seemed somewhat safer. I have a co-worker who did go with Bypass and said I was crazy for going with the LB. There is concern with maintenance but with that I still think it is better than realigning your intestines and being a permanent change. Thank you for taking time to give me a few more facts that I did not know.

Horsegirl

Never ask a bypass patient if you should do a lapband and don't ask a bander if you should get a bypass:p - I really think it is a personal decision and I, like you didn't want my interior redesigned.. I didn't want the whole dumping & malnutrition issues - IMHO i feel that lapband was my best option...

We all have lost tons of weight - I had given up cuz it always came back but I have finally come to the realization that's cuz you go back (slowy) to eating like you use to - I know we have heard it a million times before "Its not a diet but a lifestyle change" - After 52 yrs I think i finally got it - this is a LIFETIME LIFESTYLE change and the band in my interior reminder to that.

My doc is great - got tons of info from him & this website.. Read all you can. We are here to support and help each other - I am known for my tough band love (operative word being love) - As a fat person I know all the excuses that we give - I know how we convince ourselfs that we are happy fat.. or why we can't do something...

The closer you get to 50 you will understand that you have less years in front of you and more years behind you and I want to extend the years in front of me - that's why I was banded and am working it to the max.

Good Luck...

I am on post op day 5 and have had no problems. Oh, a twinge here and there, nothing major. I have been out of the house several times, sleeping on either side. Today, however, is the best one yet postoperative. It gets better with each day, keep working on it, keep occupied as best as possible.

Each and every one is going to experience different pain, different twinges, lose weight differently. All we can do is be here for each and everyone on this board that has what it takes to go through the surgery and make a lifestyle change, forever.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
