Surgery was 4 weeks ago yesterday. Between the start of my two week liquid diet and this morning, I'm down 40lbs which is kind of wild to say out loud.

Day 18 postop, trying to get down these purees and guys 🤢 I'm so over them. I know my stomach needs time, so I'm considering going back to Pro-Stat until I'm cleared to have normal food on the 23rd. I have hated everything I've tried. chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad, ricotta bake, taco bake (with refried beans) etc. I was picky prior to surgery texture-wise so I knew this would be difficult but was unprepared for just how nauseating it would be. In other news, I'm down 15 lbs since surgery day and 25 lbs since starting the liquid diet. I am quite pleased.

I had surgery on 19th sept. Just about to start puree stage. I'm still having pain on my right side around my scar area but it feels more muscle/internal pain sometimes shooting/stabbing pain. Is this normal and will it ease with time?

I get the same type of pain doctor said It’s normal. I had my sleeve the 18th of sept.

Late to the party, but my sleeve was done on 9/22. Just got to stage 4 for my diet, anyone else have major slime in the back of your throat after eating? Lost 35 pounds so far, not feeling hungry still.. just thirsty.

I had that happen once when I overate and then tried to drink a little because something felt stuck. It was so gross. I ended up throwing up. (Had my VSG on 9/26.)

Are you taking Pepcid? My doc has me on it and other than the above I haven’t had any problems.

I’m on protonix and have omeprazole when that runs out. Had chronic gastritis before surgery, that acid has been almost unbearable though. I get the slime almost every meal except when it’s popsicles or something more wet.

Crazy to think that surgery was 4 weeks ago. Finally started on solid foods, I return to work next week (thank god I wfh) and I'm nervous but excited to get back into a routine. Also thinking of buying a mini stepper to get my steps in now that my days will be consumed with work.

Amazing I started work today wfh as well. My surgery was 5 weeks ago on the 18th. I’m just adjusting to solid it’s so hard for me I think I’m over eating although it’s just few bites I get pain and I need to stop eating.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
