Hello I am officially 1week post op and I have one incision area that hurts really bad. It feels like a lump(swollen maybe ) but it’s the only one that hurts and feels this way. Anyone have similar issues? Reached out to surgeon but no real advice for pain besides Tylenol

If it looks/feels infected, you need to get medical attention for it. Did they send you off with antibiotics? Does the incision feel warm to the touch, or look very red? Even your reg fam doctor can take a look at it to see if it shows signs of infection. They can also do a finger prick to check your WBC count.

I was told that sometimes you can feel a lump under the incisions and that it is normal and will fade. I do agree though,if it is red and warm , it might be infected,Keep an eye on it and don't wait too long to see your doctor.

Is it the incision on the right side? This is the one where they usually pull your tummy out so it may be additionally bruised & strained if it’s that one. (It’s often a little larger too.) But yes, if it is warmer to touch, inflamed, etc. you may have an infection & will need antibiotics.

Thanks ladies for the response. I spoke with my surgeon and they said they believe it’s a hemotoma (if that’s how it’s spelled) which is normal it’s not showing signs of infection and they also said it will dissolve on its own

I have the two bottom most incisions are much more inflamed than the top ones. The bottom right one is reddish and tender and still has a scab. I just think there was more damage there.

In the case of my RNY, the ones I found hurt most were the ones they sew back to muscle (2 of my 6). Even if visually the outside incision is closed and healing, it will take far longer for the inside ones to heal.

I found an ice pack for a few minutes helped, just keep it dry.
