Shotputqueen 44 Posted July 27, 2023 Hi, I'm new here. It's been 13 months since I had my first consult with the surgeon. I just got psychologically cleared, which was a hassle. I meet with the surgeon next week, and hopefully everything will then be submitted to insurance. I'm hoping to have surgery in early October. 1 NettyD reacted to this
ChunkCat 732 Posted July 27, 2023 Congrats on getting cleared!! They sure do put us through a lot of hoops. I'm not looking forward to the psych eval, I have a history of depression and PTSD and new doctors always want to dig at it a bit. It's annoying. But I just remember it is for a good cause and in general everyone on these teams want their patients to succeed and have everything be optimal for them to do that! Shotputqueen 44 Posted July 27, 2023 In my case, I have a med manager who is against weight loss surgery for ANYONE. She really messed things up, causing me stress and a significant delay. 2 summerseeker and OctoberSky reacted to this

I am so glad you are past that stage... Here's to smooth sailing going forward! 1 summerseeker reacted to this

LindsayT 596 Posted July 30, 2023 In my case, I have a med manager who is against weight loss surgery for ANYONE. She really messed things up, causing me stress and a significant delay. My primary doctor was against it, too. But for some reason, she gave me the referral to speak with the surgeon so I could educate myself. That was dumb on her part because I had it done anyway. My situation was unique because I had it done on a military base, so once I got my referral, the hospital on base took over all my care surrounding the surgery.
