MB1738 0 Posted July 16, 2023 I'm on Day 5 of Gastric Sleeve Surgery. The heartburn and nausea is worse during the night and early morning. Has anyone taking mylanta one tablets for this. I take pepcid twice a day and its not helping. Also Promethazine
Saxons 71 Posted July 16, 2023 Promethazine (also known as Phergan), is an antihistamine with sedating properties. It's used for allergys. Do you mean pantoprazole? I find esomeprazole more effective, but they are the same class of drug. They belong to the proton pump inhibitor group or PPIs. They are of benefit when stomach acid escapes back up into the esophagus. Bariatric practices will routinely prescribed a short course of a PPI, say for 3 months. However if you have a liver disease, this could be a problem, but your surgeon would have thought about this before prescribing a PPI. Were you not supplied with these? 2 catwoman7 and Arabesque reacted to this
summerseeker 2,236 Posted July 16, 2023 We have a tiny stomach but the same amount of acid as pre surgery so this is why its an issue. I am on a PPI twice a day and antacid as needed. It helps to have a wedge under your pillows to elevate you in bed or put a book or brick under the top end of your bed. Do not eat for 2 hours before bed 2 1 Arabesque, KathyLev and Saxons reacted to this
