I had to take the morning after pill last weekend, but I have just woken in a panic after the thought occurred to me that it may not be effective after bypass? My husband and I already have 3 children and our family is complete with my baby child only being 9m old, I just want to know if anyone else has found them selves in a similar situation and the pill has been effective? My surgical office is closed untill Tuesday this week so I can't just call to ask.

First, you must be so freaked out right now. Deeeeep breaths! I have three beautiful kids as well so I know how you feel.

From what I understand, pills such as these should work just fine. They break down in your stomach, yes, but also in your digestive tract. So your body will absorb it just fine. The hormone in the morning after pill will function as intended.

Only “XR” tablets (extended release) can have issues so I don’t think you have anything to worry about. 😊

this didn't apply to me since I was already post-menopausal when I had surgery, but I think we were recommended to use two forms of birth control the first few months since women tend to be super fertile the first few months after surgery.

My surgeon said to double up on birth control because the extra estrogen released after surgery, when you're losing, can make you super fertile. I had my tubes tied after the birth of my third, so I can't speak to the effectiveness of the pill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
