Always Low Energy

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

My bypass was 1/13/23. Since thenm I'be lost 76lbs. Recently i've been suffering with very low energy. I'm taking my Multivitamin as i should but all i want to do is rest and or sleep. Any physical exercise past rest makes me extremely tired and i just want to rest. Is this "normal"? 6 months out i did'nt expect to have this issue. Should i Just be more patient with my body?

Try using an electrolyte drink like Drip Drops or Liquid IV. I was feeling this way & a naturopath suggested that for me. She said I looked & felt “punnie” (sorry don’t know how to spell that). Using one stick of Drip Drops a day has made such a difference for me!

I would have an electrolyte drink too. I used Hydralyte. (It was pretty sweet for me so I doubled the Water I added to make it up.) Would take a bottle with me to work or on busy days to give m a boost. I still have some on hand just in case.

It sounds like something is out of balance to be that lethargic at six months - most tend toward the energizer bunny side of things with a big chunk of weight off. Have you had labs done recently (six months would be a typical time for most programs)? Low Iron or B12 are common bypass problems, which is why they usually recommend extra, but the recommendations tend to be an average and may not be enough for everyone (while being too much for others.) I would certainly check in with the surgeon or RD on this.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
