soozan 0 Posted December 20, 2007 :eek:NO BREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hungry: Are you out of your mind? I am Italian!! LOL......meant to be a funnnyy. Seriously, can;t bread be chewed thoroughly enough to be able to pass through the banded area? Thanks Susan
reif78 0 Posted December 20, 2007 the reason they say no bread is because even though you can chew it up and it might pass thru. bread expands in the stomach and sometimes if you dont chew it enough it could get stuck in your stoma. they say no doey breads. but toast and crackers might be ok i have read where some eat toast and crackers. losingjusme 12 Posted December 20, 2007 bread is what got me huge.... dont want to continue that behaviour ... plus, it is easier to get "stuck" and make you feel like crap... every once in awhile, i will have a small piece (size of my thumb) of bread... juliegeraci 7 Posted December 20, 2007 Susan, each one is different. I can eat bread without a problem. I had a piece of french bread at dinner just the other night and consumed the entire piece. I have good restriction too. You have to try it and see.
Crishell 0 Posted December 20, 2007 They say no bread because is a greater risk of it getting stuck when it gets soft. I can eat most breads if toasted but i try to keep at minimum due to carbs.
Wheetsin 714 Posted December 20, 2007 Many bandsters find that bread, above and beyond all else, is nearly impossible for them to get past the stoma. Yes, you can chew it up, but it has a ton of gluten in it, and even well-chewed... heck, especially well-chewed, it's that much more sticky/gummy. If you chew up bread and swallow it, you've basically just swallowed salive that's about the consistency of Gummy pudding. That's not very user-friendly when it comes to a very small hole. Human saliva is pretty thick, you jsut don't realize it becaause it's spread out. Imagine (eww) a glass of thick human saliva, with a piece of bread in it. Mash the bread around, and imagine how thick that's going to be. Hence the problems with it.
Daisalana 33 Posted December 20, 2007 bread is evil.. With really good restriction, it makes you hate food.. and hate that you eat food.. and hate that bread tempts you to eat it.. stupid bread.

Wheetsin 714 Posted December 22, 2007 It wasn't that pleasant to think about as I wrote, either. Very few things can make me ill on site. Cadavers, organs, blood - doesn't phase me. Saliva on the other hand, ewwblblblb...
