FlowerGirl44 24 Posted June 29, 2023 Hello lovelies.....tell me how your first week or first two weeks were after surgery. Please be honest. I think that is what I am worried about the most. All of my paperwork has been sent off for insurance approval 4 NettyD, BeanitoDiego, FarfelDiego and 1 other reacted to this
SleeverSk 635 Posted June 29, 2023 it was ok, I think the first week you are tired and just concentrating on healing, week 3 however I was over it and regretting it big time, but I don't anymore. 2 1 NettyD, FlowerGirl44 and BeanitoDiego reacted to this
Texas90 7 Posted June 29, 2023 Hello. I just completed my first week post-op. Right after surgery I woke up in a LOT of pain and very stiff. As soon as I stood up I felt better so the first day I walked as much as I could. A family member set a timer and I'd sleep, timer would go off and I'd walk, and that went on all day. The next day I think I was a little more sore. I kept up the ritual with the timer. Surgery was on Wednesday and by Tuesday I returned to work. Right now it has been 8 days since my surgery and I actually feel great. I'd like to add that my BCBS wouldn't cover my surgery so we used secondary Surgery Plus and I wasn't able to stay at the hospital so I was an out patient. Please make sure you have someone with you to help you. I literally couldn't raise myself out of bed by myself. Best of luck!!! 2 BeanitoDiego and FlowerGirl44 reacted to this
KathyLev 285 Posted June 29, 2023 My first two weeks,I had uncontrollable diarrhea . Don't get scared - it's a very unusual happening and seems I was pretty much one of the unlucky ones. Other than that, pain was mild and only in the incisions . It went away fast. The worst part of it was being so tired . That lasted about 3 weeks and I was totally back to normal. Walking exhausted me,but I still did it. I'm 69 years old , and I'm lucky it was very easy. Good luck to you ! 1 1 FlowerGirl44 and Jalapeño reacted to this
Jonathan Carlson 73 Posted June 29, 2023 I was fine for the most part. Very little pain. Kind of bored with the liquid diet, but so is everyone! It goes by fast! 2 1 Jalapeño, BeanitoDiego and theProcess reacted to this
summerseeker 2,236 Posted June 29, 2023 I had awful nausea, some diarrhoea and no pain. It was tough getting in and out of bed as my bed is high so I used a step. I needed to be sat up in bed because my reflux was not under control. I seriously wished for a lazy boy chair. I didn't manage my meds and Vitamins, never made my liquid goals and my Protein goals were non existent. After a month and nausea meds and some serious advice from the lovely people on here, I began to improve. I worried my family a lot and at this point they noticed me getting on with things. My stomach staple line was very swollen and until the swelling dissipated I struggled. 1 Jalapeño reacted to this
Brandiwine77 55 Posted June 29, 2023 I had it pretty easy. My sleeve was outpatient, so I got to the hospital at 515ish, and was home by 1pm. The first day I was so tired and sleepy from the anesthesia. I had a post op appt first thing next morning. On the way home, we swung by Target and walked around. It wore me out. No real pain and only took a pain pill the 2nd night to help knock me out, lol. I had my surgery on a Wed and went back to work in the office on Monday. Didn't have a whole lot of nausea. The first 2-3 days Water really hurt, but then that went away. I'm a little over 3 weeks out, and I still haven't fully gotten all of my endurance back (but it doesn't help that its 3rd level of hell hot in AL, lol) I am sleeping better, and I'm down 14lbs or so since surgery. Most of my glue on incisions has some off, except the spot where they took my stomach out. That one is still a wee bit touchy. 2 Jalapeño and BeanitoDiego reacted to this

Heatherhei 15 Posted June 29, 2023 Ill be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and its really hard!! I just want something solid to eat....like meat! I have one more week till I can start tuna and shaved deli meat so Im excited about that. Ive hit my first stall and its a little discouraging but i see pics and can definitely still see a difference. I cant really stomach anything with artificial flavor like the drink enhancers or anything like that. My taste buds have seem to changed. I cannot take the Protein Shakes no more, i cant eat refried Beans anymore or cream of chicken Soup. and i use to love those things....People keep telling me it gets better so im keeping hope!!! £€@h 36 Posted June 29, 2023 I’m almost a month out of surgery and I had little pain. The hardest thing for me has been not chugging liquids. I know I want Water, but a sip here and there doesn’t quite quench my thirst. Nor do I have time to sip every two mins! This week I went for a two mile walk in the hills and realized my energy is way off. I had to stop and have a sip every five mins it seemed. 1 2 Jalapeño, theProcess and MelbaT reacted to this

I can still stomach one specific Protein Shake but the others, nope. And just the though of Soup makes me gag. I even walked down the soup aisle at Publix the other day and gagged, lol. I have rebelled a bit and started some meat a wee bit early, as I wasn't supposed to yet, but I had so many food aversions, I felt I needed to try a little. So I did some lean ground beef and chewed super well and slow and it was fine. I did some tuna salad and it was fine. Grilled chicken nuggest from Chick Fil A? That's a noooooope. 1 Jalapeño reacted to this

BabySpoons 617 Posted June 30, 2023 Don't be so quick to want to eat "real food." I breezed through the liquid/soft food stage. It wasn't till solid foods that I started getting the dreaded foamies. Not pleasant. It will be during those times you will come to appreciate the earlier simpler times. 1 Jalapeño reacted to this
kchop810 0 Posted June 30, 2023 The day of surgery thanks to the pain meds all I wanted to do was walk walk walk and that helped me so so much. I was not drinking as much as I should have, please be sure you do. The second day I was a lot more sore. Please be sure you have someone with you, it can be hard to get up or into bed etc. After a week, I felt so so much better!
SleeveToBypass2023 2,650 Posted June 30, 2023 The first 2 weeks after my sleeve, I had a lot of pain, difficulty walking, and I was constipated. I'm now on the other side of my revision from sleeve to bypass, and I have........... a lot of pain and difficulty walking. Not sure if I'm constipated again or not. It's been 2 days since my surgery, tho, and I haven't gone yet. So probably. 1 BeanitoDiego reacted to this
