Im 11 days post op and im kind of regretting this. I miss eating, and by that i mean chewing and having that flavor. everything i can eat right now is soft and bland. I cant wait till I have more options and maybe i wont be so down on it.

I regretted the surgery HARD at where you are. I was miserable. Now, I'd do it again in a heartbeat even remembering the misery.

The only way out is through. Stay strong, stay the course, know that other people have experienced exactly what you are now and you are not alone. I know it's maybe one of the most difficult things you've ever done (it was for me).

It's going to be OK. You'll get through this.

Yep, I get it. My team recommended adding herbs and spices (not overly spicy) to my puree and soft foods so they were more enjoyable. Are you allowed to do that?

I’m glad I found this thread. I’m 7 days out tomorrow, miserable and thinking I made a huge mistake. It helps to read your comments!

Adding seasonings to your food really helps. I also ate sugar free popsicles, just to get the "chewing" feeling. And if you add a bouillon cube to whatever Bone Broth you're eating, it'll deepen the flavor and make it more satisfying.

I agree with adding seasonings, it really helps make food more palatable. One of the things I noticed after surgery is that in the past when I was following a plan, I restricted spices/condiments and made my food bland, which eventually got tiring and made me quit. This time around I'm using regular seasoning and just keeping to my portions and macros.

This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it WILL pass.

The positive statements made make me feel I can do this. I am still just going through the qualifying and pre-op stage. I don't even have a date for the surgery yet. I AM trying to adapt my eating habits to what I will have to do during pre-op. I'm sort of practicing. No weight loss yet just up and down 5 pounds or so. I just bought my Vitamins, and a few other things, so I'm getting serious. No, I AM serious! I'm committed to do this and make it work. Reading these comments shows me it isn't easy but it is worth the work. Thank you all.

You got this! It's a process. A marathon. But it's totally worth it. I'm almost 8 weeks since having surgery, so the post op stuff is still really fresh. Even now, I would do it all again.

Ok, let me say this. Yesterday I was in a bad place mentally. Today, I’m feeling a little better at 7 days out. It’s not hurting to drink as much and I can get a more normal amount of fluids in etc. Give yourself grace- you haven't ruined anything from a few bites. This is hard. We’ve never done this and we’re not going to be perfect. You got this

I just got sleeved and I feel the same exact way. Just dealing with all the current changes after surgery now, are having a huge toll on me mentally. Also just having to accept the changes that are to come like no more chugging Water, testing out foods to see which ones my stomach likes or doesn’t. It’s just a lot. I’m 4 days out, and I hear the same thing from everyone that it will get better and that they regretted it but after the hard part was over they’d do it again! So I’m just trying to be hopeful and stay strong. Whoever said WLS is the easy way out have no idea the sacrifices and pain we have to deal with. But trust me I get it.

Hey! At day 4 I was so miserable and depressed and I’m the worst mental state. I’m 10 days and I’d say by day 7 I was starting to feel better both physically and especially mentally. You’ve got this

The first 2 weeks are really challenging. By day 10 I was crying, some fluids started to repulse me, nausea returned and I just wanted to start eating again. Just be strong and know it's a tiny part of this journey. Try not to sneak food in this time, your tummy is undergoing major healing. Big hugs!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
