About a week after surgery my vertical c-section became inflamed, crusty and itchy.
It itches so bad it’s becomes an out of body experience in my head. It has now spread…just the itching, all over my lower belly. It itches mostly internally now.
I’ve tried everything on it.
Don’t they blow your belly full of air during surgery? If true I feel like this was the beginning of my issue.
Thoughts? My surgeon referred me to my Dr. Who couldn’t see me for a week😡

Mine did the same thing after surgery, it stopped after a few weeks but Aquaphor was the only thing that helped. I applied it often

Some people do experience an allergic reaction after surgery & develop a hive like rash (glue used on incisions, antiseptic wash, etc.). Just one of those things. Most seem to find over the counter treatments like anti histamines, calamine, etc. help. Some find ice soothing too.

Maybe ask your pharmacist for something that may help until you can see your doctor.

Yikes I plan to have my surgery in August and need to follow this thread 😬 since this might happen to me too. I had a c section back in 2014. When did you all have your c section?

I bet you’ll be fine!! I went to the Dr. today. She said I have a bacterial infection and a yeast infection. Gross but I’ve dealt with these stupid yeast infections before. Last one was on my scalp. It just my weirdo body!!

Itching, rashes, etc. aren’t very common. Nothing to do with having a c section or not. Unless you’ve had surgery recently you may not know if you are allergic to the adhesives, anti bacterial washes, etc. they use now. If your skin tends to be more sensitive you may be more susceptible.

Glad you found out what caused yours @Dknapp. As you’re susceptible to these types of infections, I wonder if the stress of the surgery on your body set it off. It’s funny how our body reacts to certain things. Every year I get a single red spot about the size of a finger nail on my upper chest (usually in about they same place). It’s not dry or itchy just looks like it should be. It lasts about a month or so & then vanishes until it reappears the next year. Weird alright.

I agree 100%! Our bodies have a way of making up their own mind and expressing as they’d like after surgery!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
