Vitamin question not seen yet

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I have read and searched the threads about Vitamins. I know the multi will either be Flintsone or a liquid.< /p>

I, however, take more "fringe"/atypical vitamins such as:

COQ-10, Ultra B complex,antioxidants,herbal blend etc.

Most of these are mini horse pills.< /p>

Can they be tolerated after recovery/healing with enough Water?

Also, what does a stuck pill feel like? Does it pass soon enough to not worry about it?

Thanks,

Susan

I cannot do pills at all unless I crush them. One of my worst PBs was on something roughly 1/3 - 1/4 the size of a Tylenol. I've tried two other times, all very small pills, and just can't do it.

A stuck pill feels just like a stuck anything else. Whether or not it will pass depends on - how quickly it dissolves, and really just the flip of a coin as to whether or not your body can get it through, whether or not Jupiter is aligned with Saturn, and how many dogs are out there living with cats.

Every medication I took before, supplement or prescribed, has now been modified into liquid or chewable. Those that can't be modified must be crushed and taken with applesauce (suggestion).

I've had headaches the last few weeks and baby aspirins just don't cut it, so I've chewed three regular aspirins and downed them with Water. Well, my headache went away!!

My surgeon said anything that can't fit threw a straw should not be sent down the stoma... (think that is a little exaggerated but I got the drift)

Make,

Have you ever tried "Goody" powders. They might actually just be a southern thing, but they work. They work for headaches and are powdered. I know Richard Petty was advertising for them. I would look for them, I think it would probably be a little better than chewing regular aspirin.

For headaches, you cal also try Tylenol's "Rapid Blast". It is extra strength adult Tyleon in liquid form. There is also a liquid Tylenol PM.

For sinus headaches, a dose of Rapid Blast followed by a about 1 tsp of liquid Benadryl does wonders!

The hospital supplied me with a pill cutter. That would be the best thing to do. I don't know how it feels, but I've heard people who've tried it and about died swallowing those horse pills.< /p>

I can take capsules with a sip of Water, but once in a while they will get stuck too. I don't think I would try large tablets. I can get down an Advil, but not the larger pills.< /p>

I've only just been banded, but someone here recommended these vitamins: LIQUID HEALTH™

I'm taking the women's multi which has extra B vitamins plus some herbs. The company has Co-Q and anti-oxidant formulations, too.

Hey thanks NukeChik and Wheetsin--I honestly didn't know there was any type of liquid pain reliever--I've never looked for it. But believe me I'm going looking for them on Saturday!

Merry Christmas!!

I am very tight right now, and can take my prilosec, B/C, and occasional sleeping pill. Sometimes they are painful going down, but I have only had an 'episode' on meds when taking a Water retention pill. It's an herbal biggie.. was about the size of a nickel and you gotta swallow it. Now, I should have known better.. but I figured it'd just be painful and I'd get over it.. but it got stuck and I ended up spitting it up (NASTY).

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
