What sort of "good problems" you had after WLS

We're just going to have to agree to disagree.

Clearly this.

Not really - it's actually a pretty common humble brag. *shrug*

It’s hard not to take it personally when I’m the one who mentioned “vanity sizing” on this thread and then you specifically mocked the use of that term.

The intention of this particular post was not to brag (or humble-brag) about any of the "good problems" that I or the others have listed. I do that in other posts 🤣. My intention was simply to highlight what I consider to be problems or inconveniences right now (albeit minor). I think most of those who have replied got the gist of it but apparently some didn't which is fine. We can all have different views on things, otherwise life will be boring. We should just be civil when expressing our views.

Problems can vary in severity. There are inconveniences (like me not being able to get the shirts I want on sale) and major issues like having high blood pressure before WLS. Only (some of) the people who had WLS will relate.

BTW, I would like to compliment you on this post. I have thought about starting a post like this but never got around to it. There’s a popular thread about weird non-scale victories, where about half the posts are not exactly victories, but more like “skinny people’s problems.” But for people who have spent their whole lives suffering from obese people’s problems, it is a privilege and yeah, a victory of sorts, to experience this type of problem.

well this thread got hijacked/derailed...sorry @omrhsn.

also sorry that anyone felt singled out, thats a sucky feeling.

a further sorry that the intent and execution of this thread by most folks has obviously rubbed some in a really bad way. thats a sucky feeling too.

looks like we got a agreement to disagree so lets move on, shall we?

....did i mention that i have this ongoing problem about finding a nice underwire bra that actually fits? i have regular sized boobs for my frame, but a small-ish torso circumference. i often end up with a band that rides up in the back even on smallest hook, OR my boobs swish around in a too-big cup. OR the get squished out and overflow up top and on the sides in a too-small cup. Fun Times. i often go boob-commando.

..,oh and i went to a buffet again last night (don't ask..starts with my wacko BFF showing up at my place unannounced and ends with AYCE sushi). i still stand by my dislike of buffets. i paid $47.99 CDN (plus tax!) to eat 4 peices of so-so tuna sashimi, 1/3 an over-riced Unagi handroll, and 1 oily sweet potato tempura slice.

So yeah, its a problem/issue for me to justify spending over $50 on something not even that great, that would cost $15-20 at a much, much tastier restaurant.

Hard, but hopefully not impossible.

What also seems to be hard is not to come across as "mocking" when the dominant feeling is more like "generally annoyed".

GL, write something you thought through, mulled over in your head and put some effort into it and most users don't seem to give a damn about it. Write two lines that pisses some users off because you obviously pushed the wrong buttons and you're getting plenty of reaction. That's the iNtErWeBz.

Could you please just give it a rest? You've hijacked what was a fun and positive thread. Let folks Celebrate their successes. If the tone offends you, move on.

Easy justification: You got to spend quality time with your BFF. Cheap at twice the price. :)

Good luck,

The Greater Fool brings clarity once again.

Yes, the company far outweighed the menu, and really, that's all that mattered.

I hear you about finding the right fit in bras @ms.sss. I actually asked about prosthetics for the upper breast today at a department store (David Jones actually - it’s about the only place that still do bra fittings). I had googled the other day without luck. But the answer was simply no they don’t. Prosthetics for after mastectomies, chicken fillets to boost the bust but nothing for empty upper breasts. Was told that many mothers who breast fed have the same problem so not just after weight loss. Sounds like a great business idea. But I claim percentage ownership if anyone here does it.

Have you considered getting the bras tailored? I did that with a strapless bra years ago to tighten the band. (To get the cup to fit I had to go up in band size.) They also suggested I may have to do after my weight loss if I dropped down to an 8 band size - they don’t make them. But thankfully when my weight & remaining fat settled, the 10 was fine.

hmm. that seems like more trouble (and expense) than im willing to dole out.

BUT...maybe (maybe!), on a non-lazy day, i can try my hand at some macgyvering one of my old bras myself and see if its worth it!

Thought of another new good problem today. Well I did know about it but going to my optometrist reminded me. My face is so much smaller & more narrow now I have trouble finding spectacles & sunglasses to fit & suit my face. Frames are so large they over balance my face, fall off my ears & nose, & stick out on the side of my face. They cover most of my face & I look ridiculous - like those ugly 1970s glasses. When I got new glasses last year I had one frame to choose from just one. It did make the decision easier but …

Take a look at Warby Parker; they have a lot of frames that are specifically for narrow faces. They're the only brand for adults I've found a lot of choices; the frames I currently have are actually children's frames because I have the same problem.

Thank you but unfortunately they’re an American company not Australian. ☹️ My optometrists are getting in a new French boutique brand soon which specialises in frames for smaller & more narrow faces so fingers crossed for when I need new frames. Sunglasses will be an ongoing challenge I think.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
