VeeJay 13 Posted June 13, 2023 I had a question ❓. I've noticed that people that have the sleeve are up and at um fairly quickly. Yet I had the bypass and I'm walking like the hunchback of Notre Dame. Anyone else have the bypass and still not fully functioning? 1 summerseeker reacted to this
Smanky 751 Posted June 13, 2023 You had your surgery on the 7th? So not quite a week ago which is very early days. This is major surgery, so it can take a while for the pain to ease and we all heal at our own rate. I felt like I'd been hit by a bus for a good two weeks. Can't say if it would have been the same if I'd had a sleeve, but the Mini Gastric Bypass/ Omega Loop is a shorter operation than the RNY but still took me a while to recover. 2 VeeJay and summerseeker reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted June 13, 2023 I think it depends more on the person - how quickly you tend to recover, etc. I had a bypass, and honestly I felt like I never even had surgery! (well, other than when I transitioned - from lying down to sitting up, or standing to sitting, or whatever - I could feel it in my abs - but then, I've heard sleevers say the same thing) 2 VeeJay and Tomo reacted to this
LindsayT 596 Posted June 13, 2023 I agree. I think it depends on the person. I had some pain during the first few weeks, but nothing unbearable. The biggest one for me was standing still. If I was walking, I was fine. Transitions from down to up or vise versa were not too bad, but there was some discomfort. The worst was in the hospital until all the gas was expelled. And during the liquid stage , I felt tired and weak; which is fairly normal. Honestly, the whole experience hasn't been bad. My RNY was May 1st. Just keep doing what your team has advised, and if the pain doesn't go away, let them know. 1 VeeJay reacted to this
Tomo 1,194 Posted June 13, 2023 I had a rny and I felt great after I slept the first day. I felt groggy day 1. The only side effect I had was a slight sore throat from the anesthesia tube. I think it really depends on the person too. Feel better soon, alert your doctor. 1 VeeJay reacted to this
