kla7403 51 Posted June 7, 2023 Man I underestimated how uncomfortable the gas pain would be! I had my last pain med at the hospital around 8am. My dr doesn’t send you home with anything and tells you to use Tylenol. I’m so uncomfortable that I’m just camped out in my living room in the recliner. What day did the gas pains go away for you? 2 Jeanniebug and summerseeker reacted to this
Fred in Pa 234 Posted June 7, 2023 About one week for me… it gets a little better each day. Walking helps, I couldn’t walk too far so I would take several short walks in my neighborhood. I used narcotics for about two days then switched to Tylenol. It’s important to take the regiment every four hours. I actually split my four hour dose and took it every two hours to keep it in my system consistently. I, too, rode the recliner for about four days before making it into bed. Hang in there! It gets better! Welcome to the other side! 1 summerseeker reacted to this
Arabesque 7,442 Posted June 8, 2023 It’s usually a week +/- & yes walking is best - little & often. The gas rises up & settles under your lungs where it puts pressure on nerves causing the shoulder & surrounds pain. It’s absorbed into your lungs & you breathe it out which is why walking is good - makes you breathe more deeply. Also try marching on the spot or lifting your arms up & down & deep slow breathing. Heat packs can help with the discomfort too.
