Curious how many of you have had the revision. I’m concerned with weight loss as I don’t want to lose too much. I have horrible acid reflux so I am opting the sleeve to RNY this month. I have my date of the 13th a

You are going to struggle to get a definitive answer to your question. There may be something on the internet. It depends on your start weight, your adherence to the post op diet and continued work. May people on here are just pre op or just post op. Its a forum for help so once you are going great people drop away from the forum. We only know how they have got on when they come back to ask a question, usually about going from Sleeve to RNY or how to go back to weight loss again after a gain.

Like everyone else, once I get to my weight loss goal, I will try to stabilise my weight loss by upping my calorie intake.

Good luck

I'm not a revision, but an eight year "vet" on here. Most people don't lose weight nearly as fast after a revision as they do after a "virgin" surgery. And also, you do have some control over that. You probably won't be able to eat much for the first few weeks after the surgery because of the swelling and healing, but once you're through that, you do have some control over how many calories you're taking in. You can always bump them up a bit if you think you're starting to lose too much weight

I'm going to be getting my revision sometime in July. My surgeon said that with the revision, expect to lose about 40-45% of the weight you would have lost if it was your original surgery. So he said I could expect to lose about 60-65 pounds in a year for my current weight and BMI. I lost 116 pounds in a year with the sleeve, so if I can lose another 65 pounds in a year with my revision, I'll be ecstatic. I'm really good at watching my diet and working out, so I think my "dream goal" is to lose 75 pounds in a year with the revision, but my "realistic goal" is the 60-65 in a year. We'll see. I would be lower than I am now if I hadn't run into so many complications and health issues. But this revision is going to get me back to living my life so I can refocus on my health and weight loss.

Thank you all for your responses!! Revision is done and I gained a bit of weight between the IV liquids and gas and swelling. Since coming home I am down 10lbs so that’s going away. When I had the sleeve I was 268 and went down to 145. I looked gaunt it was horrible. I need to stay in the 150-160 range to avoid looking like I’m malnourished.
The hiatal hernia I had was repaired and I have zero signs of any reflux. The pain hasn’t been bad it’s been 5 days since surgery and I feel great. I was released at 194 and am at 183. Of course that’s loss of all the Fluid and swelling I am grateful for that. In reality 30-35 lbs more would be a perfect goal. However something is telling me it’ll be more. I always stick with the plan follow the dietary guidelines and do well. Fingers crossed I can gain some control of the weight loss and not lose too much! Ty again you guys are great good luck on your journey

I too am scared of losing too much weight with a revision. I had the sleeve done in 2014. I'm 5'4" and my lowest was 102. After 3 years I hit my happy spot of 115. I've stayed there for the last 6 years. I'm intentionally gaining now for fear of going too low. I'm at 125 right now and do not yet have a date. I've already had EGD and upper GI series. I just had my manometry done on the 20th and my pH with Bravo is on the 29th. He will submit to insurance after that. I'm really really scared and wish there was another option besides bypass but the 3 doctors I've seen say bypass is my only option.

I'm glad to see you're doing well, and hope that I do too, but I sure am scared.

Today weigh in is 172. The post op diet helps to lose so this hasn’t been so bad. I did re-gain (my own choice) to the 160 area and took it a little over when I knew I was getting the revision. So I am 8+ lbs less than my original weight pre surgery and 17 lbs down in 3 weeks from when I left the hospital. I don’t thinks that’s too bad. My worries are at ease because I don’t see the 140 happening anytime soon. Lots of my loss has been Fluid and the rest I took on due to being afraid to look sickly again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
