The gas station sushi is typically comprised of only cooked ingredients

I wouldn't know. I thought Lindsay was referring to raw sold there.

I don't really know how that's any more sketchy than a grocery store.

I can imagine how long it sits there before being bought or thrown out. To be safe I'd use Wasabi in case there's any bacteria floating about.

the thing about gas station or grocery or wherever pre-made sushi that sits on the shelf for purchase, is the texture of the rice gets compromised. gets dried out and hard(er). as for maki/rolls on the shelf, the nori gets soggy.

They make fresh sushi at my supermarket. Made in front of you. Never bought it as it’s always rice based. But friends swore the ones at a neighbouring supermarket were pretty good all things considered..

PS Don’t buy it from a hospital cafeteria either. Did years ago. One bite & I spat it out & in the bin it went. Shudder!

I don't make a habit of eating it, to be clear...I just am not sure I agree that a gas station is inherently more "gross" than most grocery stores. I don't know, I am a bit of a "road warrior" so I guess on-the-go stuff doesn't faze me like some others.

TBH the only thing that fazes me is eating raw meat. Even if it's from a 5-star restaurant. And if you're passing through MO, don't stop at this seafood stand. This happened yesterday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
