LelePeanut 5 Posted May 19, 2023 Im 24 days post op Gastric sleeve. I have been able to tolerate really well milk, cheese shredded, laughing cow cheese, cottage cheese… and somehow, greek yogurt is also making me throwing up. Any of you have similar experiences? I feel so confused
catwoman7 11,220 Posted May 19, 2023 is it flavored yogurt? If so, it could be whatever artificial sweetener they use. Some people are sensitive to certain artificial sweeteners. 2 LelePeanut and summerseeker reacted to this
NP_WIP 274 Posted May 19, 2023 It may be too thick, you can try adding some milk to thin it out. It happened to me at the beginning and even now at 6 months post op is not my favorite alone. 3 summerseeker, Tomo and LelePeanut reacted to this
Sleeve_Me_Alone 656 Posted May 19, 2023 I cannot tolerate mashed potatoes. They make me nauseous and give me the dreaded foamies. Sometimes foods just don't sit well, or we lose our taste for them. That is fairly common. Some folks do find they can tolerate different things later on as you heal and your body adjusts. 1 Tomo reacted to this

Arabesque 7,414 Posted May 20, 2023 It could be just your fussy sensitive tummy. Many of us experience temporary changes to our taste buds &/or sense of smell. For some certain textures upset them. I was so excited when I was able to eat vegetables again but nope my tummy said no to some of my favourites. But it was only temporary. At best it’s just a ‘this is yucky’ reaction. At worst it may cause you to vomit. And yes certain artificial sweeteners (usually the alcohol ones) can cause digestive distress - bloating, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. I actually had a reverse experience. Before surgery, I often found smoked salmon too rich & strongly flavoured. After surgery I surprisingly could eat it (smear of cream cheese wrapped around a wedge of cucumber - yum). But a few weeks later - nope awful & still avoid it. Give your tummy time to relearn flavours, smells, textures, etc. This is often a great time to try different foods or foods you fed isn’t enjoy in the past. Avoid those foods that upset you fur a couple of weeks & then try again. 2 1 learn2cook, Tomo and LelePeanut reacted to this
