My surgery is scheduled for July 13th!

Ooo you are Lenox Hill. Can you tell me what made you go there over others? I am just a habit person so I stuck with NYU but I heard great things and see you are doing DS. I am july 26th the SADI-S at NYU Brooklyn with Dr. Fareed Cheema and my original Sleeve was Dr. Bradley Scheck from NYU.

Excellent! I am doing SADI-S with Dr Roslin, but not at Lenox Hill. He also practices out of Northern Westchester Hospital. The bariatric doctor that I saw recommended him and I read one of his papers published on the Lenox Hill website. Once I understood his rationale behind preferring the SADI-S surgery, I made my decision. It's nice to meet another SADI-S patient!

@RedE2goAimee Thank you so much for the encouragement. You are so right. The path I had before this has caused a lot of negative things in my life. This life changing event will definitely be for my good.

How are you feeling post-surgery?

I had mine on July 5. Was in the hospital over nite. Had to have something for pain and nausea the first night. Thought I was dying when I woke up from recovery but that was the meds nothing to do with surgery. At home taking it easy Dr. Sent me home with pain meds something for nausea and heartburn. So far have not had to take any of them. Today (Saturday) is the first day I can actually think of drinking anything like a Protein Shake. But I will say all I can think about is egg rolls. Don’t know why just keeps popping up in my head.

I appreciate the update. So glad you're doing well! Really funny about the egg rolls. That's pretty specific. I wonder if someone was talking about them during your surgery. LOL. Hope you're continuing to do well!

It must be nice to have the surgery (and that pre-op diet!) behind you. How are you feeling, ErinMonica?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
