Recommended Posts

1 Month and half post VSG i’ve lost a total of 20KG/44lbs i’m so happy and excited for the future. I’m currently introducing the soft food stage.
Any certain foods that you guys enjoyed during this stage please comment as this will help me a lot as i’m picky with food. 💗

Congratulations on your weight loss! My stage was soft/pureed combined and I enjoyed refried Beans thinned out with yogurt, chili, hummus, guacamole, crab/chicken salad pureed with yogurt, ricotta bake, egg bites. I found tuna too dried so I only tried it once as a salad.

I'm curious how were you able to eat all the different textures and variety during the pureed stage.

I found minced meat meals the easiest. Meat balls (rissoles & gravy), zucchini noodle bolognese, savoury mince, etc. Single serve portions freeze really well too. I also made chunky Soups & slow cooked casseroles. Just add the spices, herbs & vegetables you like & can tolerate.

I remember staying with my mum & I made chicken chasseur for our dinner. Bad idea because I added the white wine as per the recipe (alcohol cooked out so thought it’d be okay) & it made it taste disgusting. It as all I could taste. Like acrid. Couldn’t eat it. My mum loved it. So tread carefully.

My go to Breakfast is soft scrambled eggs that progressed to over easy along with spinach or steamed broccoli, Deviled eggs, Crab meat, ground beef mixed with pork and Beans and sautéed onion. Beef stew, lean ground beef in a veggie Soup, Baked beans using Splenda brown sugar.

My fav... meatloaf topped with Ray's sugar free barbeque sauce with Betty Crocker roasted garlic potatoes. Om nom.. lunchtime.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
