My dietician said it can take a few weeks to see weight loss, but it's frustrating when I lost 15 lb before surgery and nothing now with barely eating. Welcome! I am 8 days post op. One day after surgery I stepped on the scale to see I had gained 9 lbs. I knew it was from the IV fluids, but it's not fun to see. One week later I've lost that and more. Hang in there. Did they instruct you on a clear liquid diet in these early days/weeks? I encourage you to talk to your doctor and team. All the best! 😊

FifiLux 504 Posted August 6, 2023 Hi everyone I hope you all had successful surgeries in the month of July. So I ended up spending 4.5 weeks in hospital and was only allowed home on Thursday. 3.5 weeks was due to severe pancreatis and then the last week I had a blood infection from the central line in my arm. Over the course of time there I had 5 central line fitted as they had to keep changing arm. I'm finding it very difficult as the pancreatis has me exhausted where doing the smallest thing, like brushing my teeth, leaves me clamy and feeling like I could pass out. Even this message was really tiring to do. I can't eat or drink a lot, no appetite and feel nauseous a lot of the time. I'm not sure if this is Sleeve or pancreas related. Today I was retching for a while after a few sips of a Protein Shake. I've no interest in thinking of what to eat or preparing anything. So far I've lost 12kg /26lb but not sure that's good quality considering I'm eating so little. I have a check up in the hospital next week so hopefully may get so me answers. Inspectorjh84 39 Posted August 7, 2023 Hey July buddies! Well I’m exactly one month passed my July 6th Gastric Sleeve. Hope everyone is doing well! I’m reporting 25 lbs down this morning very happy for the first month! No Stalls, yet. Only eating around 1000 calories a day, but burning more than 3600 every day. Lots of walking, can’t wait till the doctor says I can lift heavy weights again, my checkup is next week.

I collapsed on the nurse when she came for her morning check up on Monday morning so she called me an ambulance. Had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics plus a leak from pancreas in to stomach area. Two clips applied and I'm now on a feeding tube for a week. This has all been hell. Jerseygrl 1 Posted August 10, 2023 Hi! Newbie here. I had the sleeve done on 7/13. Since then, I’m only down about 20lbs. I haven’t had a lot of problem with nausea or vomiting but there are times when I eat, I feel it slide down, it’s painful. I don’t believe I am overeating bc I’m too scared that I’m going to gain weight. But I’m hoping once I start exercising more, the weight will come off. I seem to have hit a plateau. JanetSS 0 Posted August 10, 2023 3 week post op update- I'm down 8 lb since my surgery 7/20 I was hoping for more, but I gained about 9 lb during surgery and the day after from all of the IV fluids. To be fair, I've never lost more than a pound or so per week, so this is still really good. I would love to lose 20 lb a month, but I'm ok with a consistent 2 lb per week. I've been working with my nutritionist and weighing myself daily to track trends. It also helps me catch things quickly and readjust. I started eating ginger chews after surgery to help with nausea and realized I was going a little too ham on them! (That's how I got here in the first place) So even though there are natural fluctuations, daily weight and food tracking has been a powerful tool for my nutritionist and I. I am loosing weight so slow since surgery. My weight constantly fluctuates. I haven’t lost 20 since surgery so you are doing good. I also feel the food slide down sometimes. When this happens, I take smaller bites and chew more. I literally track everything. I’m going to try walking more also to see if that helps. I weight in weekly and It’s so defeating not to see the scale move.
Johnpayne 1 Posted August 10, 2023 20lbs in four weeks is great. You should be celebrating it. Remeber, everyone is different but keep at it and it will come
